About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Catalog Associate with 1–2 years of experience in e-commerce catalog management, preferably with hands‑on experience in Shopify. The candidate will be responsible for converting raw product data from suppliers, vendors, and internal sources into Shopify-uploadable formats, managing bulk product uploads, creating and maintaining metafields, and ensuring product information is accurate, complete, and properly structured.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Raw Data Conversion & Catalog Preparation
Convert raw product data received from suppliers/vendors into Shopify-compatible upload formats.
Clean, organize, standardize, and validate product data before uploading.
Identify and correct missing, duplicate, inconsistent, or incorrect product information.
Work with Excel/Google Sheets to manipulate large product datasets.
Ensure product titles, descriptions, SKUs, prices, inventory, images, variants, tags, collections, and other attributes are properly formatted. - 2. Shopify Bulk Product Uploads
Perform bulk product imports and updates in Shopify.
Prepare CSV files according to Shopify's required structure.
Handle bulk creation, updating, and editing of products and variants.
Manage product status, inventory, pricing, SKUs, barcodes, collections, tags, and saleschannel availability.
Troubleshoot errors encountered during bulk imports and resolve data-related issues. - 3. Metafields & Product Attributes
Create, maintain, and update Shopify metafields.
Map raw supplier attributes to the appropriate Shopify metafields.
Ensure correct metafield definitions, values, data types, and formatting.
Maintain structured product information such as:
Brand
Manufacturer
Country of Origin
Ingredients
Product specifications
Dimensions/Weight
Usage instructions
Additional product attributes. - 4. Product Content Management
Create and format product titles and descriptions.
Clean HTML content and maintain consistent formatting.
Standardize product descriptions across categories and brands.
Ensure product information follows internal catalog guidelines.
Check product images, image URLs, alt text, and image-product mapping. - 5. Data Validation & Quality Control
Perform quality checks before and after product uploads.
Verify that uploaded products display correctly on the Shopify storefront.
Identify mismatched SKUs, variants, images, prices, inventory, and other catalog information.
Maintain high accuracy while working with large product volumes.
Prepare reports and maintain catalog-related trackers. - 6. Excel / Google Sheets Operations
Work extensively with Excel and Google Sheets for catalog processing.
Use formulas such as:
VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP
INDEX & MATCH
IF / IFERROR
CONCATENATE
TEXT functions
Duplicate checks
Data validation
Handle large datasets and perform data mapping between multiple sheets.
Use filters, sorting, pivot tables, and conditional formatting for catalog QA. - 7. Catalog Maintenance
Regularly update existing Shopify products based on new supplier or internal data.
Manage discontinued, inactive, or outdated products.
Update product categories, collections, tags, and attributes.
Assist in maintaining a clean and standardized product catalog.
Required Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in e-commerce catalog management.
- Hands‑on experience with Shopify Admin.
- Good understanding of Shopify product CSV / bulk import process.
- Experience working with Shopify Metafields.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
- Good understanding of product variants, SKUs, inventory, collections, tags, and product types.
- Strong data-entry and data-cleaning skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with large product datasets.
- Basic understanding of HTML is preferred.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
