Position: Product Designer Automotive Components (Interior & Exterior)
Department: Product Design & Development
Experience: 5-10 years/ 10+yrs of experience in automotive product design and development.
Purpose of the Role: Responsible for designing and developing automotive interior and exterior plastic components from concept to mass production while meeting customer requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and manufacturing feasibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for automotive interior and exterior components.
- Design parts considering styling, functionality, manufacturability, assembly, and cost requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and maintain design documentation, BOMs, engineering specifications, and change management records.
- Perform tolerance analysis, stack-up studies, and GD&T application.
- Support DFMEA preparation and design risk mitigation activities.
- Coordinate with customers, tooling suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and project teams during development.
- Support prototype development, tooling trials, validation, and production launch activities.
- Analyze design issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with customer standards, automotive regulations, and company design guidelines.
- Participate in value engineering and cost reduction activities.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5 & UG NX.
- Knowledge of plastic part design, injection molding, tooling, and assembly processes.
- Understanding of DFMEA, DFM, DFA, GD&T, and APQP processes.
- Experience in automotive interior and exterior trim components.
- Knowledge of automotive development processes and quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10 years/ 10+yrs of experience in automotive product design and development.
- Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers is preferred.
