Responsibilities

• Requirement Analysis: Review and interpret customer requirements, ECRs, design inputs and rough sketches; collaborate with project managers and production teams.
• Drafting & Modeling: Create accurate 3D parts and assemblies in CATIA and 2D production drawings in AutoCAD.
• Sheet Metal Fabrication: Apply bending allowances, K-factors, bend deductions, and laser cutting margins for flat patterns.
• Documentation & BOM: Create and update BOMs for assemblies and sub-assemblies; maintain revision histories and file version control.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with shop floor, tooling, and fabrication teams to resolve design discrepancies for manufacturability.

Role & responsibilities

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CAD Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between concept and shop-floor production. You will be responsible for interpreting technical requirements, rough sketches, or client specifications and converting them into precise 2D drawings (using AutoCAD) and 3D models and assemblies (using CATIA).

A core requirement for this position is a strong, practical understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, specifically accounting for bending allowances, cutting deductions, and material gauges. Prior experience in cabinet, rack, or enclosure design will be a major advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Requirement Analysis: Review and interpret customer requirements, engineering change requests (ECRs), design inputs, and rough sketches. Collaborate with project managers and production teams.
• Drafting & Modeling: Generate accurate, manufacturing-ready 3D parts and complex assemblies using CATIA (Part Design, Assembly Design, and Generative Drafting modules). Produce clean, well-annotated 2D production drawings using AutoCAD.
• Sheet Metal Fabrication: Apply precise technical knowledge of bending allowances, K-factors, bend deductions, and laser cutting margins to ensure flat patterns unfold correctly for manufacturing.
• Documentation & BOM: Create and update comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for assemblies and sub-assemblies. Maintain organized revision histories and file version control.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the shop floor, tooling, and fabrication teams to resolve design discrepancies and incorporate feedback for manufacturability (DFM).

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

• Education: Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial drafting, modeling, and fabrication detailing.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced command over CATIA (Solid/Sheet Metal modeling and drafting) and strong proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
