Role Purpose
The Business Analyst will act as the bridge between risk stakeholders, business teams, data teams, and technology delivery teams. The role is responsible for translating risk-management objectives and regulatory or policy requirements into clear business requirements, process designs, data rules, functional specifications, and testable outcomes. The analyst will support the delivery and enhancement of risk platforms, controls, reporting, and decision-support capabilities across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Analysis and Requirements Management
- Engage risk, finance, compliance, operations, product, data, and technology stakeholders to understand objectives, pain points, controls, and expected outcomes.
- Elicit, analyze, document, prioritize, and validate business and functional requirements using workshops, interviews, document reviews, and process walkthroughs.
- Create business requirement documents, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, decision tables, and requirement traceability matrices.
- Assess current-state processes and systems, define future-state workflows, identify gaps, and recommend practical improvements.
Risk Domain and Regulatory Change
- Support initiatives covering credit, counterparty, market, liquidity, or operational risk, based on project scope.
- Interpret risk policies, methodologies, control requirements, and regulatory change impacts in partnership with subject-matter experts.
- Translate risk concepts such as exposure, limits, collateral, ratings, probability of default, loss given default, expected credit loss, stress testing, and capital or liquidity measures into implementable requirements where applicable.
- Maintain alignment between business rules, risk calculations, reporting outputs, governance expectations, and audit evidence.
Data, Reporting, and Controls
- Define data requirements, source-to-target mappings, data quality rules, reconciliations, lineage, exceptions, and control points.
- Collaborate with data architects and engineering teams to validate data availability, definitions, transformations, and report logic.
- Support design and enhancement of risk dashboards, management information, regulatory reports, workflow queues, alerts, and exception monitoring.
- Investigate data or reporting issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate resolution with the relevant teams.
Delivery, Testing, and Change
- Work with product owners, project managers, architects, developers, vendors, and QA teams throughout Agile or Waterfall delivery.
- Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning inputs, requirement walkthroughs, dependency tracking, and change-control assessments.
- Prepare test scenarios and expected results, support system integration testing and user acceptance testing, manage defects, and obtain business sign-off.
- Create process guides, training material, release communications, and handover documentation; support implementation and post-release stabilization.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 4-8 years of business analysis experience, with meaningful exposure to banking, financial services, risk management, or regulatory transformation.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality requirements, process models, user stories, data mappings, test artefacts, and stakeholder presentations.
- Working knowledge of at least one risk area: credit, counterparty credit, market, liquidity, operational, enterprise, or model risk.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and managing requirements from discovery through implementation.
Technical and Analytical Skills
- Strong SQL and data-analysis capability; ability to investigate data using Excel and interpret large or complex datasets.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience with process and requirement tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, or equivalent platforms.
- Understanding of relational data, data lineage, data quality, APIs, system interfaces, and batch or workflow processes.
- Ability to convert quantitative risk logic and business rules into clear functional requirements and test cases.
Preferred Domain Knowledge
- Basel framework, IFRS 9 / expected credit loss, stress testing, capital adequacy, liquidity risk, limit management, collateral, or regulatory reporting.
- Risk measures and concepts such as PD, LGD, EAD, RWA, VaR, sensitivities, exposure profiles, CVA, and scenario analysis, depending on role scope.
- Financial products including loans, derivatives, securities, treasury products, and related risk lifecycles.
- Risk governance, internal controls, audit evidence, issue management, and model or data change processes.
