Job summary

HCL Healthcare is seeking a hands-on Scrum Master to drive Agile processes and unblock teams in a fast-paced environment. You will lead ceremonies, collaborate with QA and development, and ensure clear requirements and acceptance criteria are met.

The role requires excellent communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills, with experience in Jira or Trello and a strong SDLC background. On-site role based in India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• CSM certification or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Scrum Master in Agile software development.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Identify blockers and resolve them effectively rather than escalating unnecessarily.
• Collaborate with QA and Development to clarify requirements and validate features.
• Investigate and track defects or production issues through to resolution.
• Manage stakeholders, prioritise backlog, and resolve conflicting expectations.
• Assist in gathering business requirements and converting them into user stories when needed.
• Identify and remove impediments; escalate only when necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement and coach teams on Agile practices.

Role & responsibilities

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Use technical grounding to identify what's actually blocking a task and resolve it rather than just escalating and waiting.
• Work closely with QA and Development to clarify requirements and validate delivered features.
• Help investigate and track defects or production issues through to resolution.
• Manage stakeholders, prioritize the backlog, and resolve conflicting expectations.
• Step in on business requirements gathering and user-story writing when the team needs it.
• Identify and remove impediments; escalation only what genuinely needs escalation.
• Drive continuous improvement and ensure the team follows Agile best practices.

Preferred candidate profile

Technically literate, with a QA, Development, or SDLC background this is the non-negotiable part of the role, since it's what keeps tasks from getting stuck. Business requirements exposure is a plus, not the core ask. Candidates with hands-on experience will receive strong preference in shortlisting.

• Technically literate with a working, hands-on understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Prior background in QA/testing or software development enough to independently understand what's blocking a task.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, SQL, APIs, dashboards, or logs is a strong bonus.
• Able to review test cases, acceptance criteria, and validate features before release.
• Comfortable facilitating Agile/Scrum ceremonies and coaching teams on Agile practices.
• Some exposure to gathering business requirements and converting them into user stories useful, not core.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and conflict-resolution skills.
