Job summary

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Boiler Operation & Control: Operate high-pressure boiler systems, maintaining steady operation and parameter control (steam pressure, temperature, drum level, fuel feed rate, etc.) within design limits.
• 2. Routine Monitoring: Conduct hourly checks of boiler parameters, safety valves, feed pumps, air-preheaters, and other auxiliaries. Maintain operation logbooks with accurate readings.
• 3. Start-up & Shutdown: Execute boiler light-up, warm-up, and shutdown procedures as per SOPs ensuring safety and efficiency.
• 4. Preventive Maintenance Support: Assist during routine and annual shutdowns for boiler maintenance, hydro tests, alkali boil-outs, refractory dry-outs, and steam blowing.
• 5. Emergency Handling: Respond promptly to abnormal operating conditions (e.g., pressure fluctuations, fuel feed interruptions, or system trips) following emergency response protocols.
• 6. Efficiency Optimization: Monitor fuel consumption, steam generation rate, and auxiliary power usage; target boiler efficiency of 80% and minimize specific fuel consumption.
• 7. Auxiliary System Management: Ensure healthiness of cooling water, feed water, and condensate systems. Conduct scheduled rotation of standby equipment and maintain chemical dosing control.
• 8. Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and work permit systems. Ensure 100% compliance with safety and environmental norms.
• 9. Housekeeping & 5S: Maintain clean and safe operating area around boiler house and auxiliaries. Implement 5S standards daily.
• 10. Shift Coordination: Communicate shift activities, equipment abnormalities, and maintenance requirements in daily shift handover notes and logbooks.
• 11. Conduct rounds and inspections of boilers, auxiliaries, FGCS, ash handling, and fuel handling systems, recording all operational parameters and activities in logs.
• 12. Manage the health of the cooling water system to prevent scale and corrosion, ensuring effective heat exchange.
• 13. Handle ash production, loading, unloading, and disposal activities, coordinating with contractors for ash shifting and ensuring environmental compliance.
• 14. Work closely with plant personnel, engineers, and maintenance teams to optimize overall plant performance and safety.
