Job summary

Daimler Trucks Innovation Center in Bengaluru seeks an experienced senior software engineer to lead Body Control ECU development for varied vehicle platforms. You will drive architecture, safety concepts, and cyber security while mentoring an 8–10 person team of application software engineers.

The role requires deep expertise in automotive software, embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and model-based design, with strong cross-functional collaboration and budget oversight responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Body Control ECU solutions for Passenger cars/Aerospace/light-medium-heavy-duty truck/BUS platforms
• Lead the team in technical and leadership forums
• Able to derive SW architecture for a complex feature (Lighting Systems, Security and Access, Comfort Convenience etc)
• Design and implement cyber security and functional safety concepts
• Conduct code reviews, architecture walkthroughs
• Develop complex device drivers and infrastructure software components.
• Analyse field issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Think out of box solutions and drive innovation initiatives
• Lead and mentor a team of 8–10 application software development team
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
• Support supervisor in budget planning, hiring, onboarding, and talent development.
• Lead project management activities including task planning, stakeholder engagement, and risk management

Job description

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in E&C, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10–15 years - automotive application development
• 5+ years of work experience with Simulink

Key technical skills expected:

• Deeper knowledge about BCM features like Lighting Systems, Security and Access, Comfort Convenience, Wipers, Washers, Climate Control, Chassis level control, Tire Pressure Monitoring system, Trailer interface functions and DOOR control modules
• Handson experience in Body Control Module (BCM) and associated control systems within automotive domains
• Define system architecture, functional decomposition, and ECU interfaces aligned with vehicle level requirements.
• Working experience with Software Defined Vehicle (SDV)
• Hands on experience with AI technology (AI stack, AI Agent development, MCP, RAG concepts)
• Proficient in MATLAB for modelbased design, analysis and simulation
• Well versed with tool chains around Model based application software
• Solid background in Embedded C/C++ for developing software components
• Strong Automotive domain knowledge, including communication protocols, diagnostics, and feature implementation.
• Effective Stakeholder Management skills, collaborating with crossfunctional teams, suppliers, and project leads.
• Experience or certification in SAFe agile process will be a value add
