Job summary

Expleo Group is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for BIW/DIW design and development in Chennai. You will lead from concept to SOP, develop master sections and feasibility studies, and ensure CAD delivery of sheet metal to meet milestones.

The role requires 4–7 years of experience, BE in MECH or AUTO, and strong knowledge of GD&T, DFA/DFM, and CATIA V5/V6. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to manufacturability and CAE-based design solutions.

Qualifications

• BE (MECH or AUTO) degree is required.
• Hands-on experience with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA.
• CATIA V5 and V6 proficiency.
• Knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA/DFM.
• Experience in BIW/DIW design and development from concept to SOP.
• Ability to prepare BOMs, drawings, specs and change logs.

• Optimize designs for weight, cost, and manufacturability without compromising integrity.

Responsibilities

• Handle projects related to the design and development of Body Structure (BIW/DIW) from concept development to SOP milestone.
• Develop master sections, packaging, and feasibility studies.
• Ensure CAD delivery of sheet metal as per project milestone delivery targets.
• Possess strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Have good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Collaborate with Project Lead, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering teams for design evolution ensuring feasibility.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders for design convergence.
• Hands‑on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA, and part release knowledge.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOM, drawings, specifications, and design change logs.
• Optimize designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency, and manufacturability without compromising structural integrity and CAE targets.
• Possess problem‑solving knowledge and provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.

Essential Skills

• Strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Hands‑on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Proficiency in using CATIA V5 & V6 for design and development.
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM for managing product lifecycle and part release[
