Job summary

Expleo in Chennai seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead Body Structure (BIW/DIW) design from concept to SOP, developing master sections and packaging while ensuring CAD delivery on schedule.

You will collaborate with Project Lead, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering, apply GD&T and CAE tools, and optimize for weight, cost and manufacturability using CATIA V5/V6 and ENOVIA/Teamcenter.

Qualifications

• BE (MECH or AUTO) degree required.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, DFA and DFM.
• Hands-on with PLM tools Teamcenter and ENOVIA.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 for design development.

Responsibilities

• Handle BIW/DIW design from concept to SOP milestones.
• Develop master sections, packaging and feasibility studies.
• Ensure CAD delivery of sheet metal per project milestones.
• Collaborate with Project Lead, Manufacturing and Supplier Engineering for design evolution.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation including BOM, drawings, specs and change logs.

Responsibilities

• Handle projects related to the design and development of Body Structure (BIW/DIW) from concept development to SOP milestone.
• Develop master sections, packaging, and feasibility studies.
• Ensure CAD delivery of sheet metal as per project milestone delivery targets.
• Possess strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Have good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Collaborate with Project Lead, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering teams for design evolution ensuring feasibility.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders for design convergence.
• Hands-on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA, and part release knowledge.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOM, drawings, specifications, and design change logs.
• Optimize designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency, and manufacturability without compromising structural integrity and CAE targets.
• Possess problem-solving knowledge and provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.

Essential skills

• Strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Hands-on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Proficiency in using CATIA V5 & V6 for design and development.
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM for managing product lifecycle and part release[
