Job summary

Expleo seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer with 4–7 years in Chennai to lead design and development of Body Structure components (BIW/DIW) from concept through SOP. You will deliver CAD for sheet metal, optimize for manufacturability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure feasibility.

Ideal candidates bring strong CATIA V5/V6 skills, GD&T knowledge, and hands-on ENOVIA/Teamcenter PLM experience, with ability to drive design changes and maintain detailed design documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Hands-on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Proficiency in using CATIA V5 & V6 for design and development.
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM for managing product lifecycle and part release.

Responsibilities

• Handle projects related to the design and development of Body Structure (BIW/DIW) from concept development to SOP milestone.
• Develop master sections, packaging, and feasibility studies.
• Ensure CAD delivery of sheet metal as per project milestone delivery targets.
• Possess strong technical skills in sheet metal manufacturing and body assembly processes.
• Have good knowledge of GD&T, sheet metal tolerancing, DFA, and DFM.
• Collaborate with Project Lead, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering teams for design evolution ensuring feasibility.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders for design convergence.
• Hands-on experience working with PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA, and part release knowledge.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and CAE tools/delivery.
• Provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOM, drawings, specifications, and design change logs.
• Optimize designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency, and manufacturability without compromising structural integrity and CAE targets.
• Possess problem-solving knowledge and provide design solutions based on CAE assessments.
