Weekday AI is seeking a BIW Design Engineer for an automotive client in Pune and Chennai. You will design BIW components for passenger vehicles using UG NX, focusing on packaging constraints and appropriate material selection.

The role requires applying DFM, DFA and GD&T, developing robust sheet metal designs, and ensuring manufacturability. You will manage CAD data in Teamcenter PLM and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet quality standards.

Qualifications

We are looking for a skilled BIW Design Engineer with hands-on experience in automotive Body-in-White component design. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in UG NX and Teamcenter, along with a solid understanding of BIW components, sheet metal design, packaging requirements, and design for manufacturability and assembly.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop BIW components for passenger vehicles using UG NX.


• Demonstrate strong knowledge of various BIW components and their functional requirements.


• Design components considering available packaging space, material selection, material grade, material properties, and sheet thickness.


• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the design process.


• Develop robust sheet metal designs while considering manufacturing feasibility and assembly requirements.


• Apply appropriate tolerance concepts and GD&T principles to ensure component quality and functional performance.


• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design and feasibility issues.


• Manage CAD data, revisions, and product structures using Teamcenter PLM.


• Ensure designs meet required technical, functional, manufacturing, and quality standards.
