Job summary

RGBSI in Pune, India seeks an BIW Geometry Engineer to drive design to manufacturing, ensuring geometry conformance and GD&T compliance. You will release sheet metal parts and welded assemblies, define measurement points, and support fixture development.

The role requires CATIA/NX and ENOVIA/Teamcenter experience, weld shop metrology knowledge, CMM data analysis, and collaboration with SQE and Process/Product Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Must have automotive OEM BIW geometry engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, datum definition, and tolerance validation.
• Hands-on CATIA/NX with ENOVIA/Teamcenter.
• CATIA/NX hands-on experience; Unigraphics experience a plus.
• Experience with Weld shop metrology and CMM data analysis.
• RFQ preparation with all technical aspects captured.

Responsibilities

• 1. Design to manufacturing of new product and release.
• 2. Define dimensional objectives based on reference process.
• 3. Develop sheet metal parts dimensional specs and welded assemblies.
• 4. Define BIW measurement points per specs.
• 5. Manage BIW/vehicle build geometry issues in cross-functional meetings.
• 6. Ensure quality, cost and timeliness objectives for assemblies.
• 7. Drive conformance to GD&T with fixtures, CMM, metrology; coordinate with SQE.
• 8. Analyze measurement data and CP-CPK reporting.
• 9. Weld shop metrology planning and facility support.
• 10. Develop PLP and locating strategy for BIW processes.
• 11. Develop closures hang on line location strategy.
• 12. Perform 2D/3D stack-up analysis with cross-functional alignment.
• 13. Experience with measurement system audits at supplier end.
• 14. Sheet metal gauging and holding fixture methods.
• 15. RFQ preparation with all technical aspects captured.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• 1.Clear Design to Manufacturing of new product. Realize product/process robustness / CADPART geo assessment to release.
• 2.Define theDimensional Engineering Build objectives based on the reference process and in accordance with Technical Referential
• 3.Develop Sheet metal partsdimensional specification drawings & externalized welded assembliesdimensional specifications
• 4.DefineBIWmeasurement points in accordance with engineering Build objectives & definedimensions technical specifications of Body in White & Vehicle on wheels
• 5.ManageBIW& vehicle on wheels Build Geometry issues - Makes counterproposals with respective interior & Exteriors, craftsmanship team to minimize impacts, and negotiates in cross functional meetings
• 6.Ensure quality, cost and timeliness objectives: guaranteeing the feasibility of assemblies (geometry, product conformity, process) and the robustness and respect of Technical Referential
• 7.Driving the part conformance to GD&T defined via checking fixtures , CMM, metrology, & Master cube - working along with SQE , Process Engineering & Product Engineering; Offering ways to optimize PLP to GEO Team
• 8.Measuremnt data analysis and reporting statistically. CP-CPK reporting & interpretation of sample data trend
• 9.Weld shop metrology planning, & facilities support
• 10.Develop principal localization points (PLP) & locating strategy document stage wise forBIWprocess- for suppliers & inhouse processes
• 11.Develop closures Hang on line location strategy & section book
• 12.Perform 2D /3D stack up analysis where required to define tolerances, after aligning cross functional team .
• 13.Should have experience of Measurement system audit at supplier end ,and providing feed back for improvement .
• 14.Should have experience of sheet metal part gaging process & holding fixture methods.
• 15.Experience with RFQ Preparation with all Technical Aspect of processes captured.

a) Technical:

• 1.Should Worked in Automobile OEM; inBIWGeometry Engineering
• 2.Sound Knowledge inBIWGD&T/Datum Definition/Locator strategies/Clamping Plan
• 3.Good Knowledge inBIWTolerance Validation/RSS Stack/1D/3D Stack Ups
• 4.Hands on Experience with CATIA/NX & ENOVIA/Teamcenter is Must
• CATIA hands on Experience ; Unigraphics Experience would be added advantage
• 5.Well Experienced with Weld shop Metrology- Checking fixtures CMM m/c
• 6.Knowledgeble in all types of Hemming process and C/Measure.
• 7.Knowledgeable in plastic part tolerancing & Vehicle on wheels.
• 8.should have Knowledgeable in DVA process - input process & output inference
• 9.Knowledgeable with statistical tools & techniques.
• 10.Knowledge on Fixture Design & 2D Detailing
