BIM Modeler – OPC
This position is part of the Linxon GETS‑Chennai Engineering Team. You will contribute to the effective operation of the business unit by working on project/tender‑specific activities assigned to the OPC group alongside a skilled team on a wide range of international T&D substation projects with medium engineering complexity. You will provide design for engineering disciplines across multiple projects, completing assignments on major projects cost‑effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Independently work on AutoCAD/MicroStation platform for 2D & 3D design and detail engineering of substation projects.
- Independently work on BIM/Revit platform for 2D & 3D design and detail engineering of substation.
- Apply BIM process knowledge of PAS 1192 and develop tender engineering drawings in a short time with quality.
- Ensure the completeness of assigned packages and the correct function of the resulting substation system.
- Confirm engineering is fully developed, considers all information, and that all inter‑discipline checks have been conducted; document results in the project‑specific storage area.
- Resolve CAD/Revit issues that arise during engineering development; report and keep records for all engineering changes.
- Cooperate with the engineering team and agree on project‑specific impacts caused by changes.
- Ensure compliance with Linxon and client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process and adhere to organisational QMS.
- Create work plans and cost estimates within own area of responsibility.
- Contribute to an up‑to‑date design issue log.
- Understand and follow Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines to maintain safety.
- Participate in CAD design and BIM model reviews.
- Provide input for close‑out reports and lessons learned, and review lessons learned for future projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Power Engineering.
- Good knowledge of AIS & GIS substation design.
- +6 years’ experience in CAD/BIM design.
- Experience executing project engineering in Revit platform.
- Hands‑on experience preparing substation deliverables such as overall equipment layout/section, earthing layout, cable tray, lighting, lightning protection, cable trench, etc.
- Proficiency with Revit tools.
- Any site experience deemed beneficial.
