Job summary

Mirchandani Group seeks a rigorous Billing Engineer to independently verify contractor bills, measurements, rates and documentation on premium building projects. The role sits between site teams, contractors, procurement and finance.

You will ensure accuracy, prevent billing loops, maintain audit trails, and coordinate with site engineers to validate progress. A civil engineering degree with 5–8 years of billing experience is preferred, along with strong Excel and AutoCAD skills.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech or Diploma in Civil Engineering with 5-8 years of contractor or developer-side billing experience.
• Strong knowledge of quantity surveying, IS measurement practices, BBS, BOQs, rate analysis, reconciliation, RA/final bills.
• Advanced Excel capability; experience with AutoCAD quantity take-offs. ERP exposure is useful but not mandatory.
• Experience in high-rise residential, commercial or mixed-use construction; developer-side experience preferred.
• Candidates should be prepared for a practical assessment using a sample bill/BOQ.

Responsibilities

• Check RA and final bills against BOQs, work orders, drawings and site measurements.
• Verify rate applicability, extras, deviations, deductions, taxes and recoveries.
• Audit BBS and reinforcement reconciliation, concrete and major material consumption, contractor statements and scrap records.
• Maintain package-wise bill registers with ageing and accountability.
• Return incomplete or incorrect bills with a single consolidated query list; track resolution and prevent repetitive back-and-forth.
• Coordinate with site engineers and project managers to validate physical progress and close measurement gaps promptly.
• Prepare certification/release sheets for management and finance, highlighting exceptions, risks and pending recoveries.
• Support quantity take-offs, tender BOQs, variation logs, reconciliation and cost-to-complete updates.
• Maintain a clear audit trail and ensure no certification occurs without required documentation and approvals.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a rigorous Billing Engineer to independently verify contractor bills, measurements, quantities, rates, recoveries and supporting documentation across premium building projects. The role sits between the site team, contractors, procurement/contracts and finance and must protect accuracy without allowing bills to remain stuck in avoidable loops.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Check RA and final bills against approved BOQs, work orders, drawings, site measurements, joint measurement records and executed quantities.
• Verify rate applicability, extra items, deviations, deductions, advances, retention, taxes, free-issue materials, wastage and back-charges.
• Audit BBS and reinforcement reconciliation, concrete and major material consumption, contractor statements and scrap/debit records where applicable.
• Maintain package-wise bill registers showing submission, query, certification, approval and payment status with ageing and accountability.
• Return incomplete or incorrect bills with a single consolidated query list; track resolution and prevent repetitive back-and-forth.
• Coordinate with site engineers and project managers to validate physical progress and close measurement gaps promptly.
• Prepare certification/release sheets for management and finance, highlighting exceptions, risks and pending recoveries.

• Final accounts close with minimal unresolved measurements or documentation gaps.

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES
