Job summary

Growth Heist is building India's intelligent battery energy storage platform for the commercial and industrial sector, combining LFP-based hardware with a GDAM control module and a software intelligence layer to cut electricity costs and reduce diesel reliance.

As BESS Chief Architect, you own end-to-end architecture from the physical unit through GDAM and the software stack, guiding the roadmap, leading engineering delivery, and establishing technical credibility with partners and customers.

Qualifications

• 6–11 years in battery systems, BESS product development, or EV powertrain engineering.
• Hands-on experience with LFP chemistry and BMS design or selection.
• Proven track record of taking a BESS or battery product from concept to deployment.
• Experience bridging hardware and software layers – comfortable in both worlds.
• Background in system integration and protocols: CAN, Modbus, OCPP, or similar.
• Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and dispatch logic.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end BESS architecture — from the physical unit to the GDAM control layer, software platform, and TBX endpoint.
• Define the technical product roadmap for battery units, predictive BMS, and modular design.
• Lead GDAM module ownership, define protocols, APIs and integration standards.
• Oversee TBX integration architecture for VPP, grid services and external connections.
• Provide engineering leadership: set standards, reviews, and mentor a cross-functional team.
• Drive partnerships and vendor evaluations for supply chain and customer discussions.
• Ensure regulatory alignment with BIS, IEC, and national standards for BESS products.
• Develop use cases like peak shaving, DG avoidance, and V2G integration.

About The Company

We are building India's intelligent battery energy storage platform for the commercial and industrial sector. Our systems combine LFP-based smart battery hardware with a proprietary control module (GDAM) and a software intelligence layer, enabling C&I businesses to reduce electricity costs, eliminate diesel dependency, and futureproof against India's incoming Time-of-Day tariff reforms.

The Role

As BESS Chief Architect, you will own the end-to-end technical architecture of our battery energy storage system — from the physical LFP battery unit through the GDAM control layer, the software intelligence platform, and outward to our TBX integration endpoint.

You will work directly with the founder to shape the product roadmap, lead engineering delivery, and build the technical credibility that wins partnerships and customers. This is a founding technical leadership role with full stack ownership across hardware, embedded systems, and energy software.

What You Will Own

• End-to-end BESS architecture — LFP cell selection, BMS design, GDAM control module, software platform, and TBX integration endpoint


• Technical product roadmap: battery unit, intelligent/predictive BMS, protection systems, modular scalable design


• GDAM module ownership — define protocols, APIs, and integration standards connecting hardware to the platform layer


• TBX integration architecture — design and oversee the external integration endpoint for VPP, utility, and third-party connections


• Engineering leadership: set technical standards, conduct design reviews, lead and mentor a cross-functional hardware + software team


• Technology partnerships and vendor contracts: evaluate supply chain partners, contribute to customer and partner technical discussions


• Regulatory and certification alignment: BIS, IEC, and national standards compliance for BESS products


• Drive product development for new use cases - peak shaving, DG avoidance, V2G, Virtual Power Plant (VPP) integration

Must-Have Background

Experience

• 6-11 years in battery systems, BESS product development, or EV powertrain engineering


• Hands-on experience with LFP chemistry and BMS design or selection


• Proven track record of taking a BESS or battery product from concept to deployment


• Experience bridging hardware and software layers - comfortable in both worlds


• Background in system integration and protocols: CAN, Modbus, OCPP, or similar


• Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and dispatch logic

Industry Fit

• Worked at a battery manufacturer, EV OEM, BESS product company, or energy storage solutions firm


• Well networked in the India battery / EV / energy storage ecosystem


• Strong understanding of C&I energy economics - ToD, peak shaving, DG avoidance, demand charges


• Startup or scale-up mindset - comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch


• VPP or grid services experience is a strong plus

You are a builder and a connector. You have deep battery domain knowledge but can hold a conversation with a CFO about payback periods as confidently as you can debate cell chemistry with a BMS engineer. You are well networked in the battery and EV world - you know who the best engineers are, who the best suppliers are, and who is doing interesting work in India's BESS ecosystem.
