Job summary

C5i is seeking a Senior Automation QA Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of automated testing frameworks for complex data products in a fast-paced environment.

You will own UI and API test strategies, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, mentor engineers, and collaborate with data engineers and architects to shift quality left.

Proficiency with Playwright or Selenium, RestAssured, and JS/TS or Java is required, with strong communication across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software testing experience and strong automation background.
• Expert-level automation: building frameworks with Playwright or Selenium.
• Deep API testing experience with RestAssured or Playwright.
• Strong manual testing skills to catch edge cases automation may miss.
• Solid JS/TS or Java technical stack; SQL data validation preferred.
• Experience in Agile, fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.
• Ability to communicate risks and quality metrics to tech and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Automation Leadership: Design and implement scalable automation frameworks from scratch for UI testing using Playwright or Selenium (JavaScript/Java).
• API Quality: Develop robust API automation suites using Playwright or RestAssured to validate data integrity and system integrations.
• Manual Expertise: Perform high-level manual testing, including exploratory, edge-case, and "persona-based" testing for complex data products.
• Integration & DevOps: Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps) to enable continuous quality.
• Test Strategy: Create comprehensive test plans and strategies that cover functional, regression, and integration testing for high-stakes enterprise projects.
• Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers and Architects to ensure quality is "shifted left" and built into the development lifecycle.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and code reviews for automation scripts to maintain high standards of code quality.

Required Skills

• 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Software Testing.
• Expert-level Automation: Proven experience building frameworks using Playwright (JS/TS) or Selenium (Java/JS).
• API Testing: Deep hands-on experience with API automation tools like RestAssured or Playwright.
• Manual Testing Proficiency: Strong ability to analyze requirements and identify critical manual test scenarios that automation might miss.
• Technical Stack: Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript or Java; experience with SQL for data validation is highly preferred.
• Agile Mindset: Comfortable working in fast-paced, sprint-based environments where requirements can evolve.
• Communication: Strong ability to articulate technical risks and quality metrics to both engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Experience with BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber).
• ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus.
