Job summary

Lumax Industries is seeking a skilled mould design and development professional. The role covers end-to-end tooling from concept to tool readiness, coordinating with toolmakers and tracking progress to meet project milestones.

The candidate should have a strong background in injection moulding, CAD (UG NX/CATIA), and SAP, with proven ability to drive trials, buy-offs, and problem-solving across tooling activities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Tool, Production, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in mould/tool design and development (injection moulding).
  • Hands-on experience coordinating with toolmakers and managing tool development timelines.
  • Strong understanding of mould trial processes, mould buy-off, and mould proving procedures.
  • Proficiency in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., UG NX & CATIA) for design review.
  • Strong project coordination, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Tool Maturation: Support improvements to cycle time, quality, lifespan.
  • Tool Buy-Off: Lead final tool sign-off with stakeholders.
  • SAP Knowledge: Use SAP for tracking and procurement.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

  • Mould Design: Develop and review mould designs in line with product specifications, DFM guidelines, and process feasibility.
  • Mould Development: Own the mould development process from concept through to final tool readiness.
  • Toolmaker Coordination: Liaise with external/internal toolmakers to align on design intent, timelines, and technical requirements during tool development.
  • Tool Development Tracking: Monitor and report on tool development progress against project timelines; proactively flag and resolve delays.
  • Mould Trials: Plan, execute, and evaluate mould trials to validate design and process parameters.
  • Trial Planning: Prepare trial schedules aligned with overall project milestones and manufacturing readiness plans.
  • Mould Buy-Off: Conduct formal mould buy-off activities, ensuring all technical and quality checkpoints are met before sign-off.
  • Mould Proving: Validate mould performance under production conditions to confirm process stability and part quality.
  • Problem Solving: Apply structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) to resolve tooling and process issues.
  • Tool Maturation: Support ongoing tool maturation activities to improve cycle time, part quality, and tool life.
  • Tool Buy-Off: Lead final tool buy-off processes with internal stakeholders and/or customers.
  • SAP Knowledge: Utilize SAP for tool/project tracking, procurement coordination, and documentation as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications
