Merck Hyderabad is seeking a Senior VMware & Windows Engineer to design, implement, and manage virtualized infrastructure and Windows server environments. You will ensure high availability, security, and performance across VMs, storage, and networks.

The role requires 3–5 years of VMware and Windows Server experience, with PowerShell automation skills and strong networking knowledge. A customer-focused, collaborative mindset will help you thrive in our global Tech Centers in India.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with VMware and Windows Server administration.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation concepts.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and virtualization best practices.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and MCSE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware infrastructure including vSphere and NSX.
• Install, configure, and manage Windows Server in multi-domain environments; manage AD, GPO, DNS.
• Automate routine admin tasks with PowerShell; implement backup and DR strategies for virtualized environments.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams; maintain system documentation and runbooks.

Role Overview

The Senior VMware & Windows Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's virtualized infrastructure and Windows server environments. This role requires expertise in VMware technologies and Windows operating systems management to ensure high availability, performance, and security of IT services.

What will you do in this role

VMware Environment Management

• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware infrastructure solutions, including vSphere, vCenter, and NSX.
• Manage and optimize virtual machines and host environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
• Monitor and troubleshoot VMware performance issues, applying root cause analysis for effective resolution.

Windows Server Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems in a multi-domain environment.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), and Domain Name System (DNS) services to ensure seamless integration and security.
• Develop, implement, and enforce best practices for Windows security, patch management, and system updates.
• Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell scripting to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventions.

System Integration and Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, security, and application teams, to ensure robust infrastructure integration.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users on VMware and Windows-related issues.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

• Utilize monitoring tools to assess and optimize the performance of VMware and Windows environments.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in system performance, availability, and scalability.

Primary Skills

3 to 5 years in VMware technologies and Windows Server administration.

Secondary Skills- automation is optional

What should you have

• Bachelors' degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
• 3+ years of experience in VMware technologies and Windows Server administration.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certifications preferred.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, virtualization best practices, and server hardware.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and familiarity with automation tools.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with VMware Cloud offerings or hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of security best practices for both VMware and Windows environments.
• Familiarity with storage solutions and technologies (SAN, NAS) and relevant backup solutions.
