DBS Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Release & Deployment Engineer to govern and execute production changes across multiple environments. You will coordinate with L2/L3 support, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure compliant deployments within approved windows.
The role emphasizes governance, automation, and continuous improvement in a regulated banking setting, with exposure to CyberArk PAM and OpenShift-based deployments. DBS values stability and security in its production landscape.
The Release & Deployment Team plays a critical role in safeguarding production stability by governing and executing approved production and pre‑production changes. The team ensures that all manual deployments, configuration updates, and privileged access activities are executed in accordance with approved change governance, security controls, and regulatory requirements.
Review and validate Change Requests (CRs) before implementation to ensure: Scope clarity and completeness. Technical feasibility of implementation plans. Adequate risk, impact, and rollback assessments. Compliance with change governance standards. Coordinate with Application Support (L2/L3), Infrastructure, Middleware, Database, and Platform teams to resolve implementation dependencies and technical clarifications. Verify that all required technical, security, business, and change approvals are obtained before deployment activities commence. Participate actively in Change Advisory Board (CAB), release readiness reviews, and implementation planning discussions.
Execute production and pre‑production deployments strictly according to the approved Change Request. Ensure: No deviation from approved implementation steps. No unauthorized modifications during deployment. All activities remain within the approved change window. Perform and manage manual deployment activities including: Application releases and upgrades. Configuration changes. Middleware deployments and updates. Database script execution. Security and access‑related changes. Password‑managed deployments utilizing privileged accounts. Support deployment activities across multiple environments including Production, Disaster Recovery (DR), Pre‑Production, and UAT where required.
Operate privileged accounts in accordance with CyberArk and Bank security standards. Perform: Password withdrawal and return procedures. Privileged Session Management (PSM) operations. Secure handling of functional and Type‑C IDs. Ensure all deployment sessions are fully compliant with: Audit requirements. Session recording policies. Evidence retention standards. Regulatory controls. Maintain segregation of duties and ensure only authorized Release Engineers perform implementation activities.
Perform Technical Level Validation (Tech LV) after deployment completion. Coordinate Business Level Validation (Biz LV) with Application Support teams and business stakeholders. Capture and maintain deployment evidence, including: Execution logs. Screenshots. Session recordings. Implementation transcripts. Audit artifacts. Support post‑implementation reviews and identify opportunities for deployment automation and process improvement.
Provide Level‑1 operational support for release and deployment‑related incidents. Support recovery activities during: Deployment failures. Batch/job failures. Production incidents. Participate in production war rooms, incident bridges, and troubleshooting calls. Escalate risks, delays, and implementation failures promptly to Release Managers, Domain SMEs, and leadership teams. Contribute to root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
Identify repetitive manual deployment activities suitable for automation. Support adoption of CI/CD, DevOps, and release automation initiatives. Maintain deployment runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge repositories. Participate in cross‑training and knowledge‑sharing activities to improve team fungibility and operational resilience.
Production Support, Release Management, Change Management, DevOps Operations, or IT Operations. Experience in Banking or Financial Services environments will be highly preferred. Exposure to regulated production environments with strict governance and audit controls.
Operating Systems: Strong foundation in Linux administration. Working knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems. Basic shell scripting knowledge preferred. Production Deployment & Platform Management: Experience supporting application deployments across: Production environments Pre‑production environments Disaster Recovery environments. Understanding of: Release Management processes Production Change Management ITIL practices Change Governance frameworks. Infrastructure & Middleware: Knowledge of: Middleware platforms Application server administration System configuration management Environment management Database. Basic understanding of: Oracle Database PostgreSQL SQL execution and validation. Security & Access Management: Experience working with: CyberArk Privileged Access Management (PAM) Secure credential handling processes. DevOps & Automation: CI/CD concepts Release automation DevOps practices OpenShift platform fundamentals. Patch & Platform Maintenance: Good understanding of: OS patch management Database patching concepts OpenShift platform patching and maintenance.
