Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking an OEM Business Development Manager to manage homologation processes for MSD products for Automotive OEMs and Tier‑1s. You will coordinate approvals, drive revenue, and collaborate with the Germany-based equipment team to tailor offerings and ensure compliance.

You will prepare technical documentation with product managers, monitor project status, and build strong relationships with OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers while traveling as needed to grow the business globally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of homologation experience and knowledge of MKS–MSD product strategy.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Job description

A Day in Your Life at MKS

As an OEM Business Development Manager at MKS (MSD), you will partner with internal sales teams, including product management, application, and R&D teams, to manage and coordinate homologation processes for MSD products for Automotive OEMs and Tier‑1s. You will also work with OEMs/Tier‑1s on coordinating approvals and driving revenue. In this role, you will report to the Head of Business Development.

You Will Make an Impact By
  • Managing Homologation Processes: Overseeing and coordinating homologation processes to ensure products comply with regional and international standards.
  • Understanding OEM & Tier‑1 Requirements: Developing and maintaining knowledge of current and future OEM & Tier‑1 requirements and standards.
  • Expanding Equipment Sales: Identifying and pursuing business opportunities for plating and pretreatment equipment, leveraging MSD capabilities to meet OEM and Tier‑1 requirements.
  • Collaborating with Internal Teams: Partnering with the equipment team in Germany and application product teams to customize offerings and propose innovative solutions for customers.
  • Preparing Documentation: Preparing and submitting technical documentation necessary for homologation applications, along with product managers, and collaborating with internal teams to gather data and ensure product compliance.
  • Coordinating with OEMs/Tier‑1s: Working with OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers to coordinate approvals and drive revenue.
  • Monitoring Project Status: Tracking the status of all homologation projects and providing regular updates to management.
  • Building Relationships: Establishing and strengthening relationships with OEMs, Tier‑1 suppliers, and other stakeholders to promote MSD equipment and product portfolio.
  • Tracking Market Trends: Monitoring industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities to adjust strategies and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in homologation or a similar field, and understanding of MKS – MSD product strategy.
  • A proactive mindset and a positive, solutions‑oriented approach to navigating regional and international homologation standards and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management abilities, enabling you to juggle multiple initiatives while maintaining a focus on results.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across cross‑functional teams and building lasting relationships with OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers.
  • Flexibility and eagerness to travel, embracing new experiences and opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
