Job summary

PeopleStrong in Bengaluru is seeking a detail-oriented FinOps Analyst to join our Cloud Financial Management team. You will monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud costs to drive financial accountability and efficiency across the organization.

The role requires building cost dashboards, enforcing tagging policies, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and collaborating with engineering, product, and finance to promote cost awareness and governance.

Qualifications

  • Strong data analysis skills with experience using cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability or CloudHealth.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud billing models (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of tagging strategies, resource organization, and financial governance.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills for stakeholder management and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cloud usage and spend across platforms; generate reports and dashboards to show cost trends.
  • Implement tagging policies for accurate cost attribution and support chargeback/showback.
  • Assist in budgeting based on historical data and forecasts; monitor spend vs forecasts.
  • Analyze usage patterns to identify waste and optimization opportunities; track initiatives like rightsizing.
  • Ensure governance and compliance with tagging and lifecycle standards; assist audits.
  • Manage cloud cost tools (CloudHealth, Cloudability) and automate reporting and alerts.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive FinOps Analyst to join our Cloud Financial Management team. In this pivotal role, you will analyze, monitor, and optimize cloud costs to drive financial accountability and maximize efficiency across our organization. Your expertise will enable us to make data-driven decisions, control cloud expenditures, and promote a culture of cost-consciousness in our cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Monitoring & Reporting: Track cloud usage and spend across multiple cloud platforms, generating regular reports and dashboards to visualize cost trends and identify anomalies.
  • Cost Allocation & Tagging: Implement and enforce tagging policies for accurate cost attribution, supporting chargeback and showback initiatives.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing cloud budgets based on historical data and growth forecasts; monitor actual spend against forecasts and identify deviations.
  • Data Analysis & Optimization: Analyze usage patterns to identify waste, underutilized resources, or over-provisioned assets; recommend and track cost optimization initiatives such as rightsizing and reserved instances.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies on cloud spending, maintain tagging and resource lifecycle standards, and support audits and compliance requirements.
  • Tool & Process Management: Manage cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability), automate routine reporting and alerts, and develop processes for ongoing cost control.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and finance teams to promote cost awareness, educate on best practices, and support cross-functional cost optimization initiatives.
