Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records including journal entries, receipts and payments in Tally Prime.
  • Prepare and organize financial documents, invoices and supporting paperwork for audits and reporting.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Support month-end/year-end closing and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with donor rules and internal controls; assist with audits.

About the role

As a Finance Associate at our think tank, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, transparency, and strategic resource management across the organization. This role involves overseeing day-to-day financial operations, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and managing donor reporting.


You will work closely with leadership and program teams to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that inform evidence-based decisions and support mission-aligned growth.


This position requires a strong analytical mindset, keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Record Keeping


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including, journal entries,Receipts and payments in the tally prime.

  • Organise and maintain financial documents, invoices, bills with supporting documents, receipts, and other relevant paperwork;ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Support the team in making a presentation/PPT for a meeting (Team, Management, Board, and Donor)

  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Bank Reconciliation on a monthly basis and maintain hard and soft copy.

  • All paid bills are canceled through paid stamps & mention the payment details on the bill.

  • TDS details mentioned in the excel on monthly basis and TDS and deposit TDS challans.

  • Collect necessary documents from employees for TDS computation and maintain them in individual files.

  • Complete details of required documents/information to file quarterly details.

  • Form 16A & 16 reconcile with tally data and email/handover to deductee.

  • Assisting in preparation of Financial statements

  • Preparation for statutory Audit process

  • Maintain fixed asset records.

  • Issue a tally generated donation receipt for all donations after crediting the donation to the bank account.

  • Program registration fee reconcile with CC avenue,bank statement and participants list

  • Bank related work and relationship with bankers


Financial Reporting & Analysis Support


  • Assist to prepare financial reports (Donor, Management, Board), including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Coordinate with the program team in preparing budgets and forecasts by gathering and analysing financial data.

  • Conduct basic variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted figures.


Compliance & Internal Controls


  • Ensure all financial transactions comply with organisational policies, accounting standards & donor’s accounting rules.

  • Oversee the implementation and adherence to internal financial controls and procedures.

  • Respond to auditor inquiries and provide necessary documentation.


Other Support


  • Assist with other/special finance projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Identify and suggest improvements to existing financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to resolve financial queries and gather necessary information.

Qualifications & Experience


  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a

  • related field.

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Accounts.

  • Knowledge of Tally Prime, Excel and Accounting principles.

  • Prefer working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity. This role requires you to work across functions and departments.

  • Good Communication Skills in Hindi and English


Experience

3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role. Experience from the development sector will be an added advantage.
