Job summary

Eaton Corporation, Pune, India, is seeking a Sustaining Engineering engineer for GEIS commercial products including cable trays and wiring management systems. You will identify sustaining initiatives, support manufacturing plants, address customer queries, and ensure compliance with IEC, UL, NEMA standards.

  • Develop CAD drawings, 3D models, and assemblies and ensure timely release in PLM/ERP.

Job description

What you’ll do:

“This role focuses on Sustaining Engineering (SE) for GEIS commercial products, including cable trays, wiring management systems, mechanical fittings, gratings, pipe hangers, and seismic bracing—products designed to serve both national and international markets. Key responsibilities include identifying and executing sustaining initiatives, supporting manufacturing plants, addressing customer queries, supporting cost & performance improvements through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and NPI initiatives for growth of business. The position demands strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and enthusiasm for product design. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with global design standards such as IEC, UL, NEMA and other applicable regulations. A solid understanding of industry requirements is essential, along with the ability to perform complete system and component sizing, design and testing activities to meet GEIS commercial product specifications, primarily for the U.S. market.”

  • Work in multiple programs/projects related to SE to achieve the business goals and Profit Plan objectives.
  • Own end to end SE projects and deliverables including product conceptualization, detailing, design validation & testing of products.
  • Collaborate with cross functional/ multi-disciplinary team in making engineering decisions required for successful project execution.
  • Designs, validates and releases system, sub-system and components independently as well as through team of engineers. Develop CAD drawings, detailed 3D models, and assemblies, ensuring timely release in PLM/ERP systems as per project plans.
  • Contribute to create test plans in accordance with IEC/UL standards. Create test object requirements, plan for assembly and finalize test parameters & instrumentation. Responsible for conducting tests by ensuring deployment of standard practices.
  • Partner with leads to Create Intellectual Property documents (IPs) around new product design concepts / ideas.
Qualifications

BE / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering 0-2 yrs. Product Design

Skills
  • “1. Have a good technical knowledge and understanding in design and development of Mechanical products like sheet metal products (preferred), cast/machined products, plastic products and relevant desing practices and standards.
  • 2. Strong knowledge & practice in creating part detailing and designing, drawing creation, 3D modeling of parts/assemblies and 2D drawings and tolerance of parts, prototyping and validation
  • 3. Solid understanding on design parameter selection, stresses, fatigue life, component fits and establishing efficient/ergonomic methods of assembly, Design calculations.
  • 4. Should be aware with GD&T, DFMEA, DFMA, Product Life cycle & Engg. change management process.
  • 5. Should have good knowledge on different product design tools environment like CAD like Solid works (preffered), CREO etc., basic know how of SAP/ ENOVIA.
  • 6. Internship, academic project, or coursework related to product design, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering will be considered an added advantage.
  • 7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn, collaborate, innovate, and take ownership of assigned tasks. Team player, Good communication skills & learning agility, Ability to work in global and virtual environment.
