Job description

Job Description Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and systems for new and existing products. Applies advanced mechanical engineering principles, design methodologies, and problem-solving techniques to deliver innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions that meet performance, quality, cost, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and global stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through verification, manufacturing introduction, and field support. Contributes to technical decision-making, product integration, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing deep expertise in mechanical engineering, materials, manufacturing processes, and system-level design. Provides technical guidance, supports engineering best practices, and drives execution of complex engineering projects aligned with business and customer objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, conceptualization, and development of mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems for new product development and installed‑base support.
  • Create, review, and approve engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards, tolerance stack‑up requirements, material selection criteria, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Perform engineering calculations, develop test plans, execute design verification activities, and lead technical design reviews to ensure robust product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, contractors, and global stakeholders to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions.
  • Participate in and drive all phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept generation, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, testing, documentation, manufacturing introduction, and service support.
  • Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and technologies related to metal fabrication, castings, injection molding, joining methods, and surface coating processes.
  • Apply knowledge of industrial‑grade plastics, polymers, and associated design and manufacturing principles to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
  • Engage with customers, technical leaders, and program teams to ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with broader business, program, and product objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers while supporting problem‑solving and capability development within the team.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for standardization, cost reduction, strategic sourcing, and adoption of common technology initiatives across product lines.
  • Develop innovative and cost‑effective designs that meet performance, reliability, quality, regulatory, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through root‑cause analysis, design optimization, and implementation of engineering best practices.
  • Maintain and expand technical expertise in mechanical engineering, materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies relevant to the business.
  • Drive technical execution and ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones while balancing cost, quality, performance, and schedule objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree in Mechanical Design, Tool Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design, product development, and engineering execution across the product lifecycle.
  • Strong expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analysis, and tolerance stack‑up methodologies for complex assemblies.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Cost (DFC) principles to optimize product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Proven ability to develop mechanical designs, perform engineering calculations, create and review technical drawings, and execute design verification activities.
  • Experience leading component and subsystem design activities from concept through validation and manufacturing release.
  • Hands‑on experience with sheet metal, plastic part design, and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, casting, machining, and fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of material selection, manufacturing processes, product performance requirements, and reliability considerations.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing organizations to support product development and issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving, analytical, and technical decision‑making skills in a product development environment.
Desired Characteristics
