Associate Director – Mechanical

Your skills in delivering multidisciplinary projects and championing technical standards might just make you our new Associate Director – Mechanical (Building Services). At Buro Happold, you will work on high-profile projects in the ME, US and UK and lead teams in an inclusive, diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Project Leader for multi-disciplinary projects across multiple Groups, working with a Project Director to take overall responsibility for the technical and financial performance.
• Be a technical champion for the delivery of high quality, robust and correct designs.
• Take ownership for HVAC & PHE systems and resilient designs, while mentoring others and retaining responsibility for product delivery.
• Participate in and ensure delivery of high‑level project technical/quality reviews of specifications, reports and drawings.
• Mentor junior employees so that meaningful delegation can be applied within the team.
• Ensure the latest learning and development initiatives are implemented as required.
• Prepare project delivery programmes, schedule required resources and contribute to the Group’s resource management activities.
• Support rigorous analysis of performance across the department from a technical, commercial, financial and people perspective.
• Organise project workshops to utilise the wider expertise of the firm.
• Ensure regular project reviews are organised within the team to perform detailed output checking in accordance with our QMS.
• Promote Buro Happold’s integrated services to potential clients.
• Review financial and technical submissions/proposals and attend interviews.
• Develop and maintain key client relationships to maximise opportunities for repeat business.
• Deliver repeat business with key clients through high‑quality delivery of existing projects.
• Ensure projects are financially successful.

Qualifications

• Experienced technical and commercial leader in the Mechanical and Public Health discipline with a track record of exceptional delivery over at least 15 years in the Indian market.
• Extensive delivery experience in an MEP consultancy, ideally on Middle East, UK and US projects.
• Demonstrable track‑record of mentoring and leading others, developing skills while encouraging collaboration and cohesive teamwork.
• Comfortable in an externally facing, business development role.
• Experience working on a range of challenging domestic and overseas projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, IES, CSC Fastrack, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE preferred though not essential.
• Accreditation from a chartered institute desirable.
• Bachelor’s (BEng) or Master’s (MEng) / MSc in Mechanical from a premier institute in India.
