Job summary

Buro Happold in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to innovative, sustainable building services design on international projects.

You will lead detailed HVAC design, prepare specs, manage CAD documentation, and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role requires strong building services expertise, Indian standards knowledge, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering.
• Experience in HVAC designing is a must.
• Ability to take responsibility in a team-based organisation and work independently.
• Working knowledge of Indian standards.
• Broad building design knowledge across diverse projects.
• Advanced Excel skills including macros.
• Understand electrical concepts and coordinate with architects, structural and civil engineers.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, and Hevacomp software.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant subject.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design drawings with a focus on mechanical design (HVAC).
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• inform senior design team of decisions and ensure client objectives are met.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope and quality.
• Plan workload to meet client expectations.
• Attend client, site and external design team meetings.

Your next role

• Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design - e.g. HVAC, etc.
• Prepare technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• Keep senior design team members informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the BuroHappold and the client are achieved.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope, and ensure quality
• Plan and organise your workload to ensure that you are meeting clients expectations.
• Attending client, site and external design team meetings.

Your Skills And Experience

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering;
• Experience in HVAC Designing is a must
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Indian standards.
• Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
• Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
• Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, and Hevacomp software
• Bachelors degree or Masters degree in relevant subject.
