Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop WBS and schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Support project-level P&L, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct detailed site surveys to confirm foundation requirements, power, and water lines.
  • Supervise civil foundation work, mechanical erection, and electrical/automation installation.
  • Lead commissioning and testing of ATWP and ETP at site.
  • Prepare progress reports, method statements, and risk management.

Job description

1. Job Purpose

Nihon Sharyou Senjouki India Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of high-scale railway infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on Automatic Train Washing Plants (ATWP) and related rolling stock maintenance systems.

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical engineering requirements and administrative project controls, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met in accordance with international standards.

The APM will ensure the plant is installed according to design specifications, within budget, on time, and meets quality standards for water recycling and automated cleaning of trains.

2. Key Responsibilities
  • Project Roadmap: Develop comprehensive work breakdown structures (WBS) and detailed schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Financial Control: Support maintaining project-level P&L accountability, managing budgets, cost estimates, and resource allocation to prevent overruns.
  • Site Survey & Preparation: Conduct detailed site surveys at pit lines, shunting necks, or depots to confirm foundation requirements, power supply, and water lines.
  • Installation Supervision: Supervise civil foundation work, mechanical erection and electrical/automation installation (sensors, PLC panels).
  • Commissioning & Testing: Lead the installation and testing of Automatic Wash Plants (ATWP), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) at site.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports, Method Statements, and Risk Management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with central management team, customers project team, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth progress and quick resolution of technical issues.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure compliance with safety standards during construction, including electrical safety, scaffolding, and hazardous material handling.
  • Handover & Training: Train customer staff on the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plant, including the water recycling system, to achieve optimum performance of the plant.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience:
    • 6-8 years of experience in project management and installation, preferably with automated machinery, industrial wash plants, or railway infrastructure projects.
    • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and structural drawings.
    • Excellent understanding of HSR/Railway/Metro project terminology and documentation.
    • Understanding of railway depot operations and rolling stock maintenance.
    • Good network within Indian Railways, Metro Operators and Rolling Stock Manufacturers in India
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC-based automation systems.
    • Proficiency in MS Project/Excel and reviewing drawings
  • Soft Skills:
    • To be able to solve problems on site
    • Able to communicate technical details effectively with clients.
    • Strong negotiation abilities
    • Excellent written communication (English)
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment (Indo-Japanese).
4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Project Delivery: Adherence to the project timeline (Commissioning Date).
  • Technical Compliance: Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) from the client with zero major punch-list items.
  • Safety: Zero lost-time incidents (LTI) on site.
  • Performance: Plant performance matching the specification
5. Working Conditions
  • High amount of travel to various railway sites is required.
  • Work may involve working near active railway tracks and requires strict adherence to safety protocols.
