Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise the implementation of project deliverables in line with BRB's strategy.
  • Identify children to enroll at MAC (6-14 years).
  • Identify space for setting up MAC in the intervention area.
  • Prepare child profiles and tracking sheets for MAC and develop timetables and teaching materials.
  • Conduct academic classes with MAC-enrolled children and maintain MAC documents.
  • Conduct monthly parent–teacher meetings and monitor retention of children in school.
  • Facilitate in creating a better learning environment promoting inclusion and learning in government schools.
  • Identify local-level partners and support partnerships in planned activities.
  • Document progress, case studies and success stories monthly/quarterly/annually.
  • Build capacity of children, families and community to engage local leaders.
  • Document periodic progress and share with the Manager/Assistant Manager.
  • Develop and track project documents and budgets; undertake periodic reviews.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Academic Support Fellow will look after the operations of the Multi Activity Centre (MAC) including supporting children in the academic classes conducted at MAC to improve their learning level, devise teaching learning materials for interacting teaching at MAC, help in the proper usage of resource material given at MAC. S/he will also be responsible to maintain cordial relationship with other stakeholders such as School principal, teachers, Ward Counsellor. Also acts as Bal Raksha Bharat s representative in the area to a broad range of external stakeholders including relevant government departments on issues related to strengthening child protection mechanism in the community. Work under strong thematic supervision of the Assistant Manager/Manager in order to maintain a consistent and coherent education strategy. S/he would be responsible for leading the project and its deliverable in the project geography and ensure that the envisioned outcomes and milestones of the project are accomplished with quality programming.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

The key area of accountability required will be as follows:

  • Based on the objectives set forth under the project, be accountable to plan and supervise the implementation of the deliverables of the project in lines to the larger vision, mission, commitments and strategy of the organization
  • Identification of children to be enrolled at MAC (6-14 years)
  • Identification of space for setting up MAC in the intervention area
  • Prepare child profile and child tracking sheet for children enrolled at MAC and to develop time table and devise new teaching learning materials them
  • Conduct academic classes with MAC enrolled children
  • Maintain all the relevant MAC related documents
  • Conduct monthly parent teacher meeting (parent-ASF meeting) and discuss the progress of the child with the parents/caregivers, Monitor retention of children in school after enrolment in schools
  • Facilitate in creating a better learning environment promoting inclusion and learning of children in government school
  • Identify local level partners, support and facilitate the partnership in the implementation of planned activities.
  • Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories on monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Build the capacity of children, families and community to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues.
  • S/he would document periodic progress, case studies of best practices etc of her assigned area and share with the Manager/Assistant Manager.
  • Develop and diligently track the project key documents such as milestones, detailed implementation plan, MIS, procurement plan, stakeholder engagement plan, project budget etc. & undertake periodic reviews of the same as well continuously strive to achieve the project outcomes as set forth in the project
  • Submit work plan on a weekly/monthly basis to the line manager.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and effective donor reporting (viz. donor reports, information requests, activity status updates, queries, field visits, donor engagement calendar etc.) and attend donor interface meetings if required.
  • Oversee donor/s visits and manage interns, other visits as and when required
  • Any other task assigned by line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Minimum 1-3 years experience in working with NGO/School/Communities and children and community people. Freshers with good academic records can also apply.
