We run programmes in the remotest corners of India and urban areas in the areas of Health & Nutrition, Education, Child Protection and Livelihood & Economic Wellbeing in order to facilitate quality education, healthcare and protection from harm and abuse and life‑saving aid during emergencies to children.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Academic Support Fellow will look after the operations of the Girls Resource Centre (GRC) including supporting girls in the academic classes conducted at the centre to improve their learning level, devise teaching learning materials for interacting teaching at GRC, help in the proper usage of resource material given at GRC. She will also be responsible to maintain cordial relationship with other stakeholders such as School principal, teachers, Ward Counsellor. Also acts as Bal Raksha Bharat’s representative in the area to a broad range of external stakeholders including relevant government departments on issues related to strengthening child protection mechanism in the community. Work under strong thematic supervision of the Assistant Manager in order to maintain a consistent and coherent education strategy.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Scope: The person will be responsible for overall management of the Girls Resource Centre (GRC)

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Responsible for overall management of the Girls Resource Centre
  • Identification of girls to be enrolled at GRC (3‑20 years)
  • Identification of space for setting up GRC in the intervention area
  • Prepare child profile and child tracking sheet for children enrolled at the centre and develop time table and devise new teaching learning materials them
  • Maintain all the relevant GRC related documents
  • Conduct monthly parent‑teacher meeting (parent‑ASF meeting) and discuss the progress of the child with the parents/caregivers, monitor retention of children in school after enrolment in schools
  • Facilitate in creating a better learning environment promoting inclusion and learning of children in government school
  • Identify local level partners, support and facilitate the partnership in the implementation of planned activities
  • Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories on monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Build the capacity of children, families and community to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues
  • Conduct sessions/trainings on child rights, child protection, cyber safety, menstrual hygiene
  • Conduct life skills, financial literacy sessions with adolescent and youth girls
  • Document periodic progress, case studies of best practices etc of her assigned area and share with the line manager
  • Submit work plan on a weekly/monthly basis to the line manager
  • Support in organizing donor/s visits and manage interns, other visits as and when required
  • Any other task assigned by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate/Post Graduate in Social Science /Teaching/any discipline from a recognized university or college. Weightage will be given to female candidates with B.Ed./B. El. Ed. & teaching experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience in working with NGO/School/Communities and children and community people.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING
  • Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.
  • Level 2: Either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, Legal etc.); therefore a police check will be required.
  • Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police check will be required.
