Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design and develop interior and exterior trims. You will create concepts and data inputs for business cases, perform feasibility studies for trims, and model engineering surfaces in CATIA V5 while coordinating with suppliers and tool makers.

You will apply GD&T and DFx methods across packaging, manufacturing processes, and vehicle-level integration, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and strong problem-solving

Qualifications

• BE Mechanical degree as minimum qualification.
• 6–7 years of hands-on experience in automotive product development.
• Hands-on CATIA V5 and Teamcenter PLM exposure.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and manufacturing process understanding.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of Interior / Exterior trims (IP, Console, Pillar trims, Door trims, Front grill, FR & RR Bumper, Wheel Arches, Door-cladding, Mud guard/ Flap).
• Create concepts and data inputs for business case preparation and project costing at kick-off.
• Feasibility studies of styling data CAS-0 to Class-A for trims parts and related tooling directions.
• 3D CAD modelling of engineering surfaces and packaging considerations with Veh DAC, E&E, BIW & GSM parts.
• Collaborate with Development Team, Suppliers and Tool makers for manufacturing feasibility and packaging studies.
• Incorporate DFM/DFS/DFA, CAE, DMU feedback, service & mold flow into engineering design.
• Conduct benchmarking against competition for packaging, performance and assembly at vehicle level.
• Apply GD&T for parts and assembly drawings.
• Work effectively in a cross-functional team with clear communication.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, SMC, vacuum forming, rotational and blow molding.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

• Design and development of Interior / Exterior trims (IP, Console, Pillar trims, Door trims, Front grill, FR & RR Bumper, Wheel Arches, Door-cladding, Mud guard/ Flap etc. ) ,
• Experience in creating Concepts and data inputs for business case preparation and project costing at kick off stage.
• Experience in feasibility studies of styling data CAS-0 to Class-A for trims parts(tooling direction, draft analysis, Homologation checks, Surface quality etc.)
• Master Section Development, 3D CAD modelling of Engineering surfaces and considering other vehicle parts packaging like Veh DAC , E&E , other BIW & GSM parts etc.
• Interaction with Development Team / Suppliers / Tool makers for Mfg. Feasibility, packaging / tooling feasibility study.
• Incorporation of Changes suggested in DFM/DFS/DFA, CAE, DMU feedback, Service & Mold flow simulation etc. into engineering design.
• Benchmarking study for competition vehicles and systems for packaging, performance, assembly etc. at vehicle level and tear down level.
• Incorporation of GD&T for parts and assembly drawings
• Work effectively in a team environment with a cross-functional team
• Very good knowledge on manufacturing process specifically, plastic injection molding, SMC compression molding, vacuum forming, rotational molding and blow molding technology

Key Deliverables :

1. Good CAD proficiency on CATIA V5 in below modules is mandatory - optional is Catia 3D experience
2. Assembly design, Surface modelling (Generative Shape Design Module),Part modelling, Detailing (Drafting),3D Annotation (Functional Tolerancing & Annotation)
3. Good knowledge of Int / Ext trims materials and manufacturing processes, design and devp
4. Experience in concerns resolution during validation & service trials
5. Knowledge of component and vehicle level DVP and homologation
6. Experience in concerns resolution during validation & service trials
7. Excellent communication skills in English & Self-starter with a high passion for success.

Experience

BEmechanical with 6~7 years of experience

Should have good knowledge of automotive product development cycle, Hands on experience of vehicle build phase, plant and supplier exposure/interaction.

Proficient in CATIA, Teamcenter (PLM software)

Good analytical skills and problem-solving skills
