Job Title: Assistant Manager Stores
Department: Supply Chain

Role Summary

The Assistant Manager - Stores is responsible for managing inventory, material movement, and warehouse operations to support smooth production in an EMS environment. This role ensures accurate stock control, timely material availability, and compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records (RM, WIP, FG, consumables)
  • Ensure proper stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking
  • Perform regular cycle counts and physical stock audits
  • Handle FIFO / FEFO (especially for electronic components with shelf life)
2. Material Handling & Storage
  • Supervise inward and outward material movement
  • Ensure proper storage conditions (ESD-safe handling for electronics)
  • Coordinate with production for timely material issuance
  • Manage bin locations and warehouse layout efficiently
3. GRN & Documentation
  • Ensure timely Goods Receipt Note (GRN) processing
  • Verify materials against PO and invoice
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and traceability
4. Production Support
  • Ensure line feeding without delays
  • Coordinate with planning, procurement, and production teams
  • Handle material shortages and escalation
5. Team Management
  • Supervise storekeepers and warehouse staff
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor performance
  • Train team on SOPs, safety, and handling of electronic components
6. Systems & ERP Handling
  • Work on ERP systems like SAP / Oracle / Tally / WMS
  • Ensure real-time inventory updates
  • Generate reports (stock status, aging, consumption)
7. Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards, ESD norms, and safety regulations
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Maintain traceability for all components (critical in EMS)
8. Vendor & Logistics Coordination
  • Coordinate with suppliers for returns (rejection, excess)
  • Handle material discrepancies and claims
  • Support logistics for dispatch planning
Key Skills Required
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control
  • Understanding of electronic components (PCB, SMT parts, etc.)
  • ERP/WMS proficiency
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Educational Qualification
  • Bachelors degree (B.Com / BBA / Engineering / Supply Chain)
  • Diploma in Materials Management (preferred)
Experience
  • 4-8 years in stores/warehouse, preferably in EMS or electronics manufacturing
