Job summary

Gleneagles Healthcare is seeking a procurement specialist to manage planning, control, and optimization of hospital materials supply. You will coordinate forecasting with user departments, monitor vendor commitments, and ensure compliance with NABH standards, safety, and waste management.

The role requires expertise in inventory management, cost control, and cross-department collaboration to maintain uninterrupted material supply for patient care areas and service launches.

Qualifications

  • Experience in hospital supply chain operations or healthcare procurement.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and ensure timely material supply.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders
  • Ensure compliance with hospital procurement policies and approval matrix
  • Coordinate with user departments for forecasting and planning
  • Monitor procurement timelines and vendor commitments
  • Oversee inventory levels across medical and nonmedical stores
  • Ensure adherence to FIFO / FEFO principles
  • Analyse consumption patterns and reduce slowmoving stock
  • Conduct and review periodic stock audits and reconciliations
  • Evaluate and manage vendor performance and SLAs
  • Support vendor empanelment, evaluation, and renewal processes
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and service conditions
  • Resolve supply-related disputes and escalations
  • Supervise stores operations and material handling practices
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and segregation of materials
  • Ensure compliance with safety, biomedical waste, and infection control norms
  • Support NABH audits related to Materials Management chapter
  • Liaise with clinical, nursing, pharmacy, OT, CSSD, finance, and admin teams
  • Ensure uninterrupted material supply to patient care areas
  • Support new departments, service launches, and expansions
  • Act as escalation point for material-related issues
  • Identify costsaving and standardisation opportunities
  • Monitor budget utilisation and variance
  • Implement process improvements and automation where applicable
  • Support annual cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives
  • Guide and supervise executives, officers, and stores staff
  • Allocate duties and monitor performance
  • Provide on-job training and coaching
  • Strong knowledge of hospital supply chain operations

Key Responsibility:

Procurement Planning & Control

  • Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders

Inventory Management & Optimisation

  • Oversee inventory levels across medical and nonmedical stores

  • Analyse consumption patterns and reduce slowmoving / nonmoving stock
  • Conduct and review periodic stock audits and reconciliations

Vendor Management & Negotiation

  • Evaluate and manage vendor performance and SLAs
  • Support vendor empanelment, evaluation, and renewal processes
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and service conditions
  • Resolve supplyrelated disputes and escalations

Stores & Materials Supervision

  • Supervise stores operations and material handling practices
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and segregation of materials
  • Ensure compliance with safety, biomedical waste, and infection control norms
  • Support emergency and critical inventory management

Documentation & NABH Compliance

  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of supply chain activities
  • Maintain records for traceability, recalls, and audits
  • Support NABH audits related to Materials Management chapter
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Interdepartmental Coordination

  • Liaise with clinical, nursing, pharmacy, OT, CSSD, finance, and admin teams
  • Ensure uninterrupted material supply to patient care areas
  • Support new departments, service launches, and expansions
  • Act as escalation point for materialrelated issues

Cost Control & Process Improvement

  • Identify costsaving and standardisation opportunities
  • Monitor budget utilisation and variance
  • Implement process improvements and automation where applicable
  • Support annual costreduction and efficiency initiatives

Team Supervision & Development

  • Guide and supervise executives, officers, and stores staff
  • Allocate duties and monitor performance
  • Provide onjob training and coaching
