Job summary

KEM Hospital Pune seeks a senior supply chain leader to design and execute end-to-end procurement, stores, inventory, logistics and internal distribution to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines, equipment and clinical supplies for patient care.

The candidate should hold an MBA in Supply Chain Management or Material & Logistics Management with 12–14 years of hospital experience; pharma background is an added advantage for strategic sourcing and cost optimisation across departments.

Qualifications

  • MBA in SCM or Material & Logistics Management required.
  • Graduate in Pharmacy will be an added advantage.
  • 12–14 years of hospital supply chain experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the hospital's end-to-end supply chain strategy across demand planning, procurement, stores, and logistics.
  • Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical medical, surgical, clinical and non-clinical materials for patient care.
  • Lead strategic procurement and sourcing, including vendor identification, negotiations, rate contracts and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Set inventory norms, reorder levels and safety stock for critical materials.
  • Oversee stores management including receipt, inspection, storage, issue, returns and stock reconciliation.
  • Monitor stock-outs, excess, slow-moving items and take corrective actions to minimise wastage and working capital blocking.
  • Establish and manage Vendor Management System with empanelment, performance evaluation and terms.
  • Coordinate with Medical, Nursing, OT, ICU, Emergency, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Biomedical Engineering and other departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Drive cost optimization and procurement savings through standardisation and volume consolidation.
  • Develop Supply Chain MIS and dashboards covering procurement spend, inventory value, turnover, stock-outs, ageing, expiry, vendor performance, procurement TAT, emergency purchases and savings.
  • Lead HMIS implementation and automation of requisitions, approvals, purchase orders and inventory movements.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital procurement policies, regulatory requirements, audit controls and ethical procurement practices.
  • Identify supply-chain risks and develop business continuity plans for critical materials and emergencies.
  • Conduct periodic physical stock verification, reconciliation and inventory audits.
  • Establish and monitor SLAs, KPIs and performance standards for procurement, stores and vendors.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Purchase and Stores teams and collaborate with Finance on budgets and working capital.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and digitalisation across the supply chain.
  • Provide strategic supply-chain insights to senior management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement the hospital'send-to-end Supply Chain strategy, covering demand planning, procurement, stores, inventory, logistics and internal distribution.
  • Ensureuninterrupted availability of critical medical, surgical, clinical and non-clinical materialsrequired for patient care and hospital operations.
  • Leadstrategic procurement and sourcing, including vendor identification, negotiations, rate contracts, product standardisation and cost-effective alternate sourcing without compromising quality.
  • Develop and monitorinventory norms, minimum/maximum levels, reorder levels and safety stockfor critical and high-value materials.
  • Ensure effectivestores management including material receipt, inspection, storage, issue, returns, traceability and stock reconciliation.
  • Monitor inventory forstock-outs, excess, slow-moving, non-moving and near-expiry/expired itemsand drive corrective action to minimise wastage and working capital blockage.
  • Establish and manage a robustVendor Management System, including empanelment, performance evaluation, quality, delivery adherence, commercial terms and alternate vendor development.
  • Work closely withMedical, Nursing, OT, ICU, Emergency, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Biomedical Engineering and other departmentsto understand requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Plan and monitor supply requirements forOT schedules, specialised procedures, high-value consumables and other critical clinical requirementsto prevent material-related delays.
  • Drivecost optimisation and procurement savingsthrough standardisation, volume consolidation, negotiations, vendor rationalisation and consumption optimisation.
  • Develop and monitorSupply Chain MIS and dashboardscovering procurement spend, inventory value, turnover, stock-outs, ageing, expiry, vendor performance, procurement TAT, emergency purchases and savings.
  • Lead implementation and optimisation ofHMIS, including automation of requisitions, approvals, purchase orders, GRNs, inventory movements and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance withhospital procurement policies, statutory/regulatory requirements, audit controls, documentation and ethical procurement practices.
  • Identify supply-chain risks and developbusiness continuity and contingency plansfor critical materials, emergency situations, market disruptions and alternate sourcing.
  • Conduct periodicphysical stock verification, reconciliation and inventory audits, investigate variances and ensure corrective action.
  • Establish and monitorService Level Agreements (SLAs), KPIs and performance standardsfor procurement, stores and vendors.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Purchase and Stores teams, ensuring productivity, accountability, process discipline and capability building.
  • Work closely withFinance and hospital leadershipon procurement budgets, working capital, cost optimisation and supply-chain performance.
  • Continuously identify opportunities forprocess improvement, digitalisation, standardisation and efficiency enhancementacross the supply chain.
  • Providestrategic supply-chain insights and recommendations to senior management to support operational efficiency, financial sustainability and uninterrupted patient care.
  • Any other work/responsibility assigned by the HOD/Management in the course of business/work whether within the same unit/dept or any other unit/dept from time to time
