Purpose of the role:
Responsible for working on identified plant level process improvement and process implementation activities and execution of new product development. Also provide technical assistance & solutions for smooth running of manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Cycle time improvement: Drive process improvements in identified manufacturing processes for cycle reduction, develop and implement solutions to improve OEE and reduce operator fatigue.
- Work on new product development on channel to ensure right process design and achieve product characteristics as per SKF specifications. Plan & execute industrialization for new bearing types.
- Introduction of new cutting tools and abrasives (grinding, turning & honing) for output improvement & cost reduction.
- Takes part in PFMEA, control plan and other channel documents for new product development and revision of existing products.
- Works on technology improvement projects like vision cameras and advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Leads machine qualification by using techniques like FAT and SAT.
- Works on ECR for effective implementation of change management.
- Release process flow diagram, set up chart, process validation report & process drawings for new product development.
- Develop tooling requirements for grinding, honing, and assembly processes by applying SMED concepts. Ensure tooling performance during prove‑out and ramp‑up.
Metrics:
- Cycle time improvement and fixation of deviation.
- No. of new products developed.
- Productivity improvement and OEE improvement.
- Installation of new machines & equipment.
- Sound knowledge of turning, hard turning, hard machining, (grinding & honing will be added) assembly process.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, hand‑on experience on 3D modelling software e.g. Creo and 2D modelling software e.g. AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of process flow diagrams, PFEA, control plan and MSA.
- Machine qualification technique, FAT, and SAT.
- Learning agility, problem‑solving mindset.
- Exposure to advanced manufacturing technique, digitization, robotics, low‑cost automation.
- Effective team player.
Candidate Profile:
- 7‑10 yrs. of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Bachelor's in engineering (Mechanical/Industrial/Production).
