Job summary

Agratas – A Tata Enterprise is seeking an experienced engineer to execute projects in lithium-ion cell manufacturing sectors. You will work hands-on across PLC/robotics, HMI, and motion systems, with a focus on commissioning and troubleshooting in complex production environments.

Required are 7–10 years of project execution experience and proven expertise with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff PLCs and drives, robotics from KUKA/FANUC, and vision systems like Keyence.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Electronics or Instrumentation.
• 7–10 years of project execution experience in lithium-ion cell manufacturing or allied sectors.
• Proven hands-on experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff PLCs and drives; KUKA and FANUC robotics; Keyence vision systems; laser weld systems; strong PID tuning.

Responsibilities

• Develops PLC logic (sequence, interlocks, alarms) for machines.
• Builds HMI screens and configures alarms and trends.
• Troubleshoots I/O, logic bugs, and supports commissioning.
• Configures and troubleshoots Profinet/Modbus/EIP protocols.
• Performs motion/drive tuning and servo setups.
• Ensures installation validation and I/O mapping per SOP.
• Documents learnings and updates troubleshooting guides.

Job description

Purpose of the Role

Executes engineering tasks with guidance; strong hands-on; solves defined problems; supports commissioning/troubleshooting.

Key Responsibility Areas

• PLC / HMI / SCADA Engineering ( Siemens. Mitsubishi, Beckhoff PLC and drives)
• Develops PLC logic (sequence, interlocks, alarms) for assigned machines/sections.
• Builds HMI screens using existing standards; supports alarm & trend configuration.
• Performs debugging with support; resolves routine logic bugs and I/O issues.
• Maintains backups and updates as-built documentation for assigned areas.
• Industrial Networks & Interfaces (OT Connectivity)
• Configures and troubleshoots common protocols: Profinet/CC link/ EIP/Modbus TCP, basic OPC tags.
• Performs basic network diagnostics: IP plan adherence, cable checks, switch port validation.
• Supports data mapping to SCADA/MES under guidance.
• Drives / Motion / Robotics Integration
• Configures VFD parameters, basic servo setup, and commissioning checklists.
• Troubleshoots common faults (overcurrent, encoder error, STO trips) with OEM support.Supports tuning, ramp settings, and basic motion sequences.
• Instrumentation & Field Layer (Sensors/Actuators)
• Validates installation, I/O mapping, and performs basic calibration checks (as per SOP).
• Troubleshoots typical issues: wiring, signal scaling, noisy signals, sensor alignment.

Knowledge Generic

Mandatory Desired: Engineering in (Electronics / Instrumentation)

Mandatory: 7-10 years of experience in project execution within the lithium-ion cell manufacturing industry or allied sectors such as Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Packaging, and Paint industries. Proven hands‑on experience working with Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Beckhoff PLCs and drives, along with KUKA and FANUC robotic systems, Keyence vision systems, laser weld systems with strong practical expertise in PID tuning and parameterization

• Identifies fault source (I/O, sequence, sensor, drive) and restores operation.
• Uses logs/alarms to isolate issues; escalates complex problems appropriately.
• Documents learning, updates troubleshooting guides.
