Royal Enfield in India seeks an Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager for Surface Finishing (CED & Powder Coating - Projects & ME). You will lead process engineering, equipment selection, bath control, and trial commissioning for pre-treatment, CED, and electrostatic powder lines on new vehicle programs.

You will drive productivity, optimize line capacity, reduce paint and chemical consumption, and ensure corrosion resistance through rigorous testing and defect troubleshooting.

Competenze

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engg, Surface Coating Tech, Polymer Engg or Printing Tech.
• 10+ years of hands-on process/engineering experience in CED and powder coating operations in automotive OEM or Tier-1 plant.
• Strong knowledge of CED bath control, powder formulations, shade matching, and defect elimination.

Mansioni

• Establish, validate, and control bath chemistry, ED voltage, film thickness, bake temps, and cure cycles for CED and powder lines during new model launches.
• Manage technical specs for automotive CED paints and powders; conduct chemical/physical testing (salt spray, adhesion, MEK, impact).
• Lead shade matching and applicator selection; optimize electrostatic guns, bells, and booths.
• Execute capacity expansion and line-speed optimization; eliminate bottlenecks across PT, CED, and powder shops.
• Reduce consumption of paints, powders, chemicals, water, gas, and electricity via line efficiency improvements.

Job Description

The Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager - Surface Finishing (CED & Powder Coating - Projects & ME) leads the process engineering, equipment selection, chemical bath control, and trial commissioning for pre-treatment, Cathodic Electrodeposition (CED), and electrostatic powder coating lines. Sitting at the intersection of process technology and project industrialization, this role oversees CED paint and powder formulations, conducts shade matching and color harmony evaluations, selects applicator equipment, and establishes process parameters for new vehicle model launches. The incumbent drives productivity and line capacity enhancement projects, optimizes the consumption of paint, powder, utilities, and chemicals, and applies rigorous quality testing and defect troubleshooting to eliminate scrap and ensure long-term corrosion resistance.

Key Responsibilities

• CED & Powder Coating Process Engineering: Establish, validate, and control operational parameters (bath chemistry, ED voltage, film thickness, bake temperatures, curing cycles) for CED and powder coating lines during new model introductions.
• Powder & CED Formulation & Testing: Manage technical specifications for automotive CED paints and powders, understand powder manufacturing/development, and conduct chemical/physical testing (salt spray, cross-hatch adhesion, MEK rub, impact resistance).
• Shade Matching & Applicator Selection: Lead shade matching, gloss control, and color harmony for powder-coated components; select and optimize automatic and manual powder application equipment (electrostatic guns, bells, booths).
• Line Capacity & Productivity Optimization: Execute capacity expansion projects, line speed optimization, and bottleneck elimination across Pre-Treatment (PT), CED, and powder coating shops.
• Consumption & Utility Reduction: Implement projects to reduce the consumption of CED paints, powder coatings, chemicals, water, gas, and electricity through line efficiency improvements.
• Defect Troubleshooting & Quality Control: Perform root-cause analysis on coating defects (pinholes, cratering, orange peel, water marks, mapping, inadequate film build) to reduce rejections and enforce high FTT rates.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Surface Coating Technology, Polymer Engineering, or Printing Technology.
• Experience: 10+ years of dedicated hands-on process or engineering experience in CED and powder coating operations within an automotive OEM or Tier-1 automotive plant.
• Core Competencies: CED bath process control, powder formulation & shade matching, powder applicator selection, utility/paint consumption optimization, new model process setup, and defect root-cause elimination.
