Job summary

Asahi India Glass (AIS) seeks an experienced Transportation & Logistics Manager to oversee end-to-end transportation operations across India, ensuring timely and safe delivery of finished goods. You will be the single point of contact for transporters, sales, and customers, driving seamless coordination.

The role emphasizes cost optimization, accurate transporter billing, and smooth order management with the ISD and sales teams. 8–12 years of logistics experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate degree required.
• 8–12 years of experience in logistics/transportation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end transportation operations to ensure timely and safe delivery of finished goods.
• Coordinate with zonal heads, sales teams, customers, and transporters as the single point of contact for transportation-related activities.
• Ensure vehicle placement and dispatch execution within agreed timelines to meet customer service requirements.
• Resolve transit-related issues and delivery challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain service levels.
• Monitor transportation performance to ensure materials reach customer locations in safe and damage-free condition.
• Coordinate with Sales and ISD teams for order amendments and dispatch-related changes.
• Ensure seamless communication with customers and stakeholders to maintain high levels of service satisfaction.
• Monitor dispatch adherence and proactively address operational bottlenecks.

Role & responsibilities

• Coordinate with zonal heads, sales teams, customers, and transporters as the single point of contact for transportation-related activities.
• Ensure vehicle placement and dispatch execution within agreed timelines to meet customer service requirements.
• Resolve transit-related issues and delivery challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain service levels.
• Monitor transportation performance to ensure materials reach customer locations in safe and damage-free condition.

Cost Optimization & Budget Control

• Control and optimize transportation costs, including freight, reverse logistics, detention charges, rack management, and other logistics expenses.
• Conduct periodic freight market surveys to assess transportation trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Verify, review, and process transporter bills, ensuring accuracy of freight and additional charge claims.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving Kaizens to enhance operational efficiency and loading standards.

Customer Service & Order Management

• Coordinate with Sales and ISD teams for order amendments and dispatch-related changes.
• Ensure seamless communication with customers and stakeholders to maintain high levels of service satisfaction.
• Monitor dispatch adherence and proactively address operational bottlenecks.
