Job summary

Royal Enfield in Chennai seeks Assistant Manager - Vendor Development (Electrical & Electronics Proprietary) to lead supplier onboarding for advanced automotive electrical systems, overseeing end-to-end sourcing from RFQ to PPAP for NPD and design revisions.

You will manage target costing, supplier performance, and capacity expansion, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are met for Direct-on-Line (DOL) shipments.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering.
• 7+ years of vendor development experience in automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Proficient in APQP/PPAP, supplier identification, RFQ, target costing and cost negotiations.
• Experience in managing NPD design revisions, capacity expansions and DOL targets.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing & DFM: issue RFQs from BOMs, evaluate electronics suppliers, lead DFM reviews.
• Cost & Commercials: calculate target costs, negotiate vendor terms, manage payments.
• Quality & PPAP: drive APQP/PPAP, conduct audits, resolve quality issues.
• Performance & DOL: track orders and vendor capacity to ensure on-time delivery.

Position Title: Assistant Manager - Vendor Development (Electrical & Electronics Proprietary)

Job Description

The Assistant Manager - Vendor Development (Electrical & Electronics Proprietary) leads the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of component suppliers for advanced automotive electrical and electronic systems. Responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing operations from supplier identification, RFQ processing, and target costing to PPAP, APQP, and supplier quality audits the role ensures adequate, high-quality component supply for New Product Development (NPD), design revisions, and capacity expansions, strictly meeting cost, quantity, quality, and Direct-on-Line (DOL) targets up to final SOP handover.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & DFM: Issue RFQs from BOMs/drawings, evaluate electronics suppliers, and lead DFM reviews for technical feasibility and reliability.

Cost & Commercials: Calculate target costs with Cost Management, negotiate vendor terms, and manage cost-band alignment and payments.

Quality & PPAP: Direct SQEs, drive APQP/PPAP processes, conduct audits, and resolve quality issues to cut incoming rejection rates.

Performance & DOL: Track order status and vendor capacity to ensure on-time Direct-on-Line (DOL) delivery and meet vehicle business plans.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering
• Experience: 7+ years of vendor development experience in the automotive industry (OEMs or Tier-1 ancillaries)
• Domain & Commodity Focus: Electronics components, lighting systems, cluster software, instrument clusters, and telematics systems
