Job summary

INJECTOPLAST in Kanpur, India seeks a senior leader to drive automotive plastic product design and tooling development. You will manage end-to-end NPD from concept to SOP, lead 3D CAD modelling and cross-functional teams, and coordinate tooling with global rooms for cost and lead-time optimization.

The role requires extensive experience with injection moulding and NPD, strong leadership, and deep CAD tool expertise to ensure successful product industrialisation and on-time PPAP execution.

Qualifications

• 20–25+ years in automotive product design and tooling.
• Exposure to automotive plastic components for 4-wheeler OEMs/Tier-1.
• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Plastic/Production/Tool Engineering.
• Strong CATIA/NX/Creo proficiency.
• Experience in Injection Moulding and NPD.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and tooling development for automotive plastic components.
• Manage end-to-end NPD from concept/RFQ to SOP.
• Handle 3D CAD modelling, assembly, drafting and design engineering teams.
• Lead tooling development, mould design, tool trials and modifications.
• Coordinate with local and foreign tool rooms for cost, design and lead times.
• Review design feasibility, DFM/DFA and GD&T.
• Drive RFQ costing and value engineering.
• Coordinate with OEM customers and cross-functional teams for reviews.
• Ensure timely APQP, PPAP and project milestones.
• Drive product reliability, validation and testing; implement design improvements.
• Ensure safe launch for NPD including tooling and fixtures; on-time PPAP.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvements.
• Resolve design/tooling/manufacturing issues via root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement and new tech adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Product Design, Tool Design & Development for automotive plastic components.


• Manage end-to-end New Product Development (NPD) from concept/RFQ to SOP.


• Handle 3D CAD modelling, assembly, drafting and design engineering teams


• Lead tooling development, mould design, tool trials and modifications.


• Coordination with Local and Foreign tool rooms for optimum cost, design, and tool development lead times


• Review product and tool design feasibility, DFM/DFA and GD&T.


• Drive RFQ costing and value engineering.


• Coordinate with OEMs customers and cross-functional teams for tech reviews


• Ensure timely completion of APQP, PPAP and project milestones.


• Drive product reliability, validation, endurance testing and design improvements.


• Ensure safe launch for NPD, including complete product industrialisation starting from tools, assembly fixtures, on time PPAP etc.


• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvement and design optimisation.


• Resolve complex design, tooling and manufacturing issues through root-cause analysis.


• Drive continuous improvement and new technology/concept implementation.

Required Experience & Qualification

• 20–25+ years of experience in Automotive Product Design & Tooling Development.


• Strong exposure to automotive plastic components for 4-wheeler OEMs/Tier-1.


• B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Plastic / Production / Tool Engineering.


• Strong knowledge of CATIA / NX / Creo / other 3D CAD tools.


• Experience in Injection Moulding, Tool Development, NPD


• Strong leadership, project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
