Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior logistics leader to oversee multimodal operations at a major plant in India. The role encompasses shipping, customs, rail planning, road fleet management, and port coordination to ensure compliant, efficient cargo movements.

The candidate will drive cost optimization, safety, and vendor performance, while engaging with port authorities, railways, and logistics providers to sustain high service levels.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Commerce.
• MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead inbound and outbound multimodal logistics operations for the plant.
• Manage import/export logistics, including shipping, documentation, customs coordination, and cargo movement.
• Oversee rail logistics, including rake planning, loading/unloading, wagon utilization, and liaison with Railway authorities.
• Manage road transportation operations, fleet deployment, transporter performance, and dispatch planning.
• Drive port operations, including vessel planning, cargo evacuation, stevedoring, and coordination with Port Authorities.
• Ensure regulatory, statutory, customs, railway, transport, and environmental compliance.
• Build relationships with Port Authorities, Railways, Customs, Shipping Lines, Government Agencies, and Logistics Service Providers.
• Drive logistics cost optimization, service improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Lead contract management, vendor performance management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Champion safety culture across logistics operations.
• Ensure EHS compliance across Port, Rail, Road, Warehousing, and Cargo Handling activities.
• Lead safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Drive transporter safety programs, defensive driving initiatives, and contractor safety compliance.
• Ensure safety KPIs focused on Zero Harm and Zero Major Incidents.

Requirements

• Graduate in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Commerce
• MBA preferred
• Minimum 12–15+ years of experience in large-scale multimodal logistics operations
• Strong expertise in Port Operations, Railway Logistics, Road Transportation, Import & Export Logistics, and Compliance Management
• Excellent liaisoning, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
• Exposure to SAP/ERP systems is an added advantage
• Experience preferred in Metals, Mining, Cement, Fertilizer, Bulk Commodities, Manufacturing, Ports & Logistics
