Job summary

Vikram Solar in Tamil Nadu is seeking an experienced EHS & Sustainability leader to develop and implement safety policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive environmental performance across production, maintenance, and logistics.

You will lead the EHS and Sustainability team, coordinate with multiple departments, conduct audits and training, and advance Kaizen and 5S initiatives to build a culture of safety and sustainable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing EHS policy and safety management systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and related regulations.
• Experience with ESG reporting and sustainability metrics.
• Understanding of carbon accounting and GHG emissions (Scope 1-3).
• Ability to lead audits, investigations and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the EHS and Sustainability team.
• Develop departmental objectives, budgets and annual action plans.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, HR, Administration, Projects and other departments.
• Conduct management review meetings and present EHS performance reports.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizen, 5S and safety excellence programmes.
• Coordinate with government authorities, auditors and external agencies.
• Build a strong safety and sustainability culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities A. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

1. Develop, implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures and safety management systems.
2. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
3. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments and workplace audits.
4. Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
5. Monitor workplace safety practices across production, maintenance, warehouse and utility areas.
6. Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and other applicable safety standards.
7. Lead accident investigations, root cause analysis and incident reporting.
8. Implement fire prevention, emergency preparedness and disaster management plans.
9. Conduct safety training, awareness programmes and toolbox talks for employees and contract workers.
10. Monitor PPE compliance, LOTO procedures, work permits and machine safety practices.

B. Environmental Management

1. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and pollution control board requirements.
2. Monitor air emissions, wastewater discharge and environmental parameters.
3. Manage hazardous waste, solid waste and e-waste disposal as per statutory requirements.
4. Ensure proper functioning of ETP, STP and pollution control systems.
5. Monitor water consumption, energy usage and waste generation.
6. Coordinate environmental audits, inspections and statutory renewals.
7. Develop initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.

C. Sustainability Initiatives

1. Develop and implement the organizations sustainability strategy and roadmap.
2. Drive ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives across manufacturing operations.
3. Monitor and reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions.
4. Promote renewable energy utilization, energy conservation and water conservation.
5. Implement waste reduction, recycling and circular economy initiatives.
6. Prepare sustainability reports, ESG reports and environmental performance dashboards.
7. Support carbon footprint assessment and decarbonization initiatives.
8. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for sustainability reporting and assessments.
9. Promote sustainable manufacturing practices across the solar module production process.

D. Leadership & Team Management
