Location – Navi Mumbai, India.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical proposal process for mechanical engineering aspects of steel processing lines, from initial request to firm commitment with the customer.
- Ensure quality, optimized cost, and timely delivery of technical documentation, including major deliverables such as line layout engineering, line and motor calculations, line basic data, and technical specifications.
- Implement lessons learned from reference projects and drive cost optimization during line engineering.
- Review and provide technical clearance for major buy‑outs.
- Collaborate with proposal lead, technology experts, and product line managers to translate customer requirements into achievable functional specifications and performance guarantees.
- Support the execution team with required information during project handover and lifecycle.
- Develop line layouts in coordination with line layout and thermal teams per customer RFQ.
- Work closely with proposal managers to ensure complete technical documentation for each proposal.
Education & Experience
The ideal candidate shall have 18–20 years of experience in technical design and engineering of one or more of the following processes in international steel making of flat products, with project values ranging from 50 to 500 Crores:
- Automotive and construction‑grade continuous annealing and galvanizing lines.
- Cold rolling mills.
- Pickling lines and acid regeneration plants.
- Electrical steel – annealing, pickling, and annealing coating lines.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Generate line layout and calculations per customer RFQ.
- Generate line technical specifications and utilities data.
- Perform process‑related, production, and cycle‑time calculations.
- Define line tension requirements.
- Review technical offers of major buy‑outs.
- Verify assembly drawings, P&IDs, and process diagrams.
- Draft performance as per design reviews.
- Define technical deviations from those set out in the RFQ.
- Maintain references in technical proposal engineering with high‑end flat steel makers in Europe, USA, and Asia (e.g., Arcelor Mittal, Baowu, TATA, Nucor, JSW).
Background, Skills, and Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to defend one’s point of view from a technical standpoint.
- Proficiency with IT tools: Microsoft 365 (Teams, Tasks, Planner, Project Online), Autodesk (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault), Power BI, and Excel pivot tables.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders – local and international.
- Comfortable working in an agile environment with high perseverance.
- Collaborative team player.
