Qualifications

• BE/BTech/ Diploma in Electrical Engineering required.
• Certified ISO 50001 Lead / Internal Auditor; Electrical Supervisory License preferred.
• 8 to 12+ years of hands-on electrical engineering/plant utility experience in manufacturing.
• Deep understanding of HT substations (33kV/11kV to 415V), switchgears, transformers, DG synchronization, APFC panels, motor starters (VFD, Soft Starters).
• Knowledge of BESCOM tariffs, CEIG compliance, IE Rules, and power quality analysis.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HT yard including metering cubicle, feeders and HT cables.
• Oversee operation, maintenance and testing of step-down transformers.
• Manage captive power sources and DG sets (up to 1010 kVA) to ensure zero downtime during grid interruptions.
• Supervise motor control centers (MCC/PCC) and high-capacity induction motors up to 120 kW.
• Lead ISO 50001 EnMS implementation, internal audits, and regulatory reviews.
• Establish energy baselines, EnPIs, and action plans to reduce energy consumption.
• Monitor and optimize power factor and demand within sanctioned limits.
• Interface with BESCOM, CEIG and authorities for approvals, safety and billing.
• Design and execute preventive and predictive maintenance for HT/LT panels, breakers, transformers, and DGs.
• Explore solar PV integration to meet sustainability goals.
• Lead shifts for electrical technicians and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Job description

1. POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Assistant Manager Electrical & Energy Engineer to oversee our facility's high-voltage electrical distribution, captive power generation, and overall energy management systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a high-demand industrial electrical system (6000 kVA Sanctioned Demand), indoor/outdoor HT yards, multiple power transformers, captive diesel generator setups, motors, production machinery and a team of electrical technicians. A key mandate of this role is implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) to drive efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Electrical Operations & HT Infrastructure Management:

• Manage, maintain, and ensure smooth operation of the facility's HT Yard (Outdoor & Indoor Metering Cubicle, Feeders, Dedicated HT power cable from substation).
• Oversee the reliable operation, maintenance, and testing of step-down transformers
• Maintain and optimize captive power sources, including 8 DG sets (Upto 1010 kVA), ensuring zero downtime during grid supply interruptions.
• Oversee high-capacity induction motors (up to 120 kW, intermittent duty) and motor control centers (MCC/PCC).

ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) & Sustainability:

• Serve as the Management Representative / Lead for ISO 50001 certification, implementation, internal audits, and external compliance reviews.
• Establish energy baselines, EnPIs (Energy Performance Indicators), and action plans to reduce baseline energy consumption.
• Maintain strict Power Factor control (maintaining minimum 0.99 PF across plant loads) to maximize BESCOM incentives and eliminate penalty surcharges.
• Monitor demand utilization against the sanctioned limit (optimizing peak loads against demand).
• Evaluate and execute energy conservation projects, including exploring solar PV integration (rooftop/off-grid) to improve sustainability goals.

Team Leadership, Statutory Compliance & Licensing:

• Lead and schedule shifts for a team of electrical technicians/electricians.
• Obtain or hold a valid Electrical Supervisory License to legally oversee electrical works and statutory compliance.
• Ensure all technicians maintain necessary trade licenses and adhere to safety compliance standards.
• Liaise with BESCOM, Electrical Inspectorate (CEIG), and regulatory agencies for approvals, safety certifications, line inspections, and billing accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Indian Electricity Rules (IE Rules), OSHA, and factory safety standards.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:

• Design and execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance schedules for HT/LT panels, breakers (ACB/VCB), transformers, and DG sets.
• Implement thermal imaging, oil breakdown testing, and vibration/load analysis for critical assets.
• Maintain adequate critical spares inventory for fast turnaround times during breakdowns.

3. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE).
• Certifications: Certified ISO 50001 Lead / Internal Auditor. Possession of a valid Electrical Supervisory License (Competency Certificate from Electrical Inspectorate Board) is highly preferred.
• Experience: 8 to 12+ years of hands-on electrical engineering and plant utility experience in a medium/large manufacturing continuous-process industry.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of HT sub-stations (up to 33kV/11kV to 415V), switchgears, transformer maintenance, DG synchronizing panels, APFC panels, and motor starters (VFD, Soft Starters).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of state electricity tariffs (BESCOM), CEIG compliance, IE Rules, and power quality analysis.
