Job summary

Layam in India seeks a Senior Engineer - Assembly Manufacturing to develop new processes and equipment for manufacturing new products, aligning with standards and timelines. This role includes scaling assembly capabilities to meet rising customer demand and collaborating with global teams to advance assembly processes and technology for next generation products.

The incumbent will drive improvements to global standards in productivity, Scrap/PPM, safety, and process capability benchmarking

Responsibilities

• Develop new processes and equipment for manufacturing new products with robust process controls.
• Develop proto tools required for building prototypes for customers.
• Conduct manufacturing feasibility assessments on assembly processes and provide capital and tooling requirements for new product RFQs by coordinating with cross functional and global teams.
• Adhere to forecasted capital, tooling and startup spending.
• Carry out capacity analysis for assembly process.
• Develop new assembly equipment per standard, carry out installations, runoffs, monitor results and handover.
• Improve current assembly processes to global standards in productivity, Scrap/PPM, Safety, Poke yoke controls, process capability benchmarking across plants.
• Extend technical support for production and quality on critical line stoppages and customer complaint issues related to assembly process.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled systems such as Mitsubishi, Siemens, Omron and Allen Bradley platforms

• Responsible for Development new process and equipment and toolings required for manufacturing new products with robust process controls.
• Responsible for Develop proto tools required for building prototype required for Customer.
• Responsible for conducting manufacturing feasibility assessment on assembly process and provide capital and change over toolings requirements on new product RFQs by coordinating with cross functional team and global team through MSO review.
• Responsible for adherence of forecasted capital, tooling and startup spending.
• Responsible for carrying out capacity analysis for assembly process
• Responsible for development of new assembly equipment as per standard and carryout installations, conduct runoff trials, monitor results and handover.
• Responsible for Improving current assembly process to global standards in terms of productivity, Scrap/PPM, Safety, Poke yoke controls, Process capability bench marking other plants.
• Extend technical support for production and quality on Critical line stoppages and Customer complaint issues related to assembly process.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled systems such as Mitsubishi, Siemens, Omron and Allen Bradley platforms

Job purpose

The Senior Engineer - Assembly Manufacturing Senior engineer will develop new process and equipment required for manufacturing new products in line with standards and timelines. Develop new assembly equipment to meet increase in existing customer demand. Work with global team on developing new assembly processes and technology for next generation products. Improve existing process to global standards in terms of productivity, Scrap/PPM, Safety thro global bench marking.
