Job summary

FIS in Pune is seeking an AS400 Developer with 5+ years of IBM i / iSeries experience to design, build, and maintain mission-critical applications on the AS400 platform.

You will work across the full software lifecycle, collaborate with product and QA teams, and optimize DB2/400 based apps using RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL. Rotational on-call may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of AS400 development and support.
• Experience with IBM i APIs, Data Queues, and Journaling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain IBM i applications.
• Analyze requirements and create detailed technical design documentation.
• Estimate development efforts, track progress, and contribute to delivery planning.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and stakeholders to prioritize and deliver solutions.
• Develop and optimize RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL, and DB2/400 based applications.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues to ensure platform stability.
• Perform application enhancements, defect resolution, and system maintenance activities.
• Support batch processing, system integrations, and operational workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, release management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide rotational on-call support and respond to critical incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices.

About The Team

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting a flagship post-trade processing platform that serves global futures, options, and clearing markets. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, delivering high-quality solutions that support exchanges, clearing organizations, brokers, and financial institutions worldwide. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient business solutions.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform
• Analyze business requirements and create detailed technical design documentation

• Partner with Operations, Client Services, and other teams to ensure seamless service delivery

What You Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in IBM AS400 (IBM i / iSeries) application development and support
• Strong expertise in RPG/RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL/CLLE, DB2/400, batch processing, DFU, and query tools
• Experience supporting production environments and resolving complex application and system issues
• Knowledge of IBM i APIs, Data Queues, User Queues, Message Queues, Multi-threading, Journaling, and IBM i library-based file systems
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and iterative delivery models
• Experience with source control, code management, deployment, and release processes
• Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global team environment
