Job summary

Quarkcity is seeking an Architect to lead conceptual design, planning and oversight of building projects. You will develop layouts, elevations and working drawings, coordinating with structural, MEP and civil teams to ensure safe, sustainable and compliant designs.

The role requires proficiency in CAD/BIM tools, strong communication with stakeholders, and hands-on involvement from design through construction. The ideal candidate will drive quality and efficiency across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch) or equivalent qualification.
  • B.Tech- Civil with M.Tech- Structure.
  • Professional registration/licensing as applicable.
  • Relevant experience in architectural design and project execution.
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM and relevant architectural design software.
  • Experience in preparation of working drawings and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop architectural concepts based on project requirements and site conditions.
  • Prepare building layouts, plans, elevations, sections and drawings.
  • Develop designs for residential, commercial, institutional, office and educational projects.
  • Balance functionality, aesthetics, safety, sustainability and energy efficiency.

JOB DESCRIPTION ARCHITECT

The Architect is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, planning, and overseeing the development and construction of buildings and built environments. The role focuses on creating safe, functional, sustainable, aesthetically appropriate, and legally compliant buildings while ensuring that the approved design is effectively translated into construction.

The Architect works closely with inhouse engineers, site execution teams and statutory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
1. Architectural Design & Planning
  • Develop architectural concepts based on project requirements, client needs, site conditions, functionality.
  • Prepare building layouts, floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed architectural drawings.
  • Develop designs for residential, commercial, institutional, office, educational, Healthcare Centres and other building projects.
  • Balance functionality, aesthetics, safety, sustainability, cost effectiveness and energy effectiveness in design solutions.
  • Study site conditions, orientation, access, circulation, environmental factors, and surrounding development.
  • Prepare design alternatives and present recommendations to management.
  • Incorporate approved changes and feedback into architectural designs.
2. Construction Drawings & Documentation
  • Prepare detailed working drawings, Good for Construction (GFC) drawings, blueprints, shop drawings and architectural details.
  • Develop specifications for materials, finishes, fixtures, and architectural components.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for construction.
  • Maintain proper drawing registers, revisions, and documentation.
  • Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, MEP, civil, and other engineering drawings.
3. Building Codes & Statutory Compliance
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, development regulations, fire and life-safety requirements, accessibility requirements, and statutory standards.
  • Coordinate with consultants and authorities for necessary approvals and permissions.
  • Incorporate statutory requirements into architectural plans and construction documentation.
  • Review regulatory requirements applicable to individual projects.
4. Construction & Site Coordination
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor implementation of approved architectural designs.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, site engineers, and supervisors.
  • Provide clarification on architectural drawings and construction details.
  • Identify deviations from approved designs and recommend corrective measures.
  • Inspect architectural finishes, materials, workmanship, and detailing.
  • Assist in resolving design-related issues encountered during construction.
  • Review and approve architectural changes where appropriate.
5. Coordination with Consultants
  • Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP Engineers, civil engineers, landscape Architects, interior designers, and other specialists.
  • Participate in design coordination and project review meetings.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between architectural and engineering requirements.
  • Ensure all disciplines are integrated into the final building design.
6. Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Understand management requirements and translate them into practical architectural solutions.
  • Present concepts, plans, drawings, materials, and design proposals.
  • Incorporate feedback while maintaining technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain professional communication with project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advice on design, materials, functionality, and feasibility.
7. Quality, Safety & Sustainability
  • Ensure architectural designs meet required quality and safety standards.
  • Incorporate principles of energy efficiency, natural lighting, ventilation, accessibility, and sustainable design where applicable.
  • Consider durability, maintenance, lifecycle cost, and environmental impact when selecting materials and design solutions.
  • Monitor construction quality from an architectural perspective.
8. Project Coordination
  • Coordinate architectural deliverables with overall project timelines.
  • Support project managers in achieving project milestones.
  • Monitor design-related issues that may affect cost, quality, or schedule.
  • Assist in evaluating design changes and their impact on project execution.
