Job summary

Job description

Role Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional to own quality assurance for our print workflow software suite (prepress imposition, color management, and print MIS / job ticketing

tools) and serve as the primary technical face to our customers running product demos, onboarding new clients, and resolving field escalations across the Pre-Press, Press, and Post-Press

workflow.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Application Testing & QA

• Execute functional, regression, and release testing across our software products (imposition tools, color/ICC management utilities, print MIS/job ticketing systems) before each release.
• Design and maintain test cases/checklists covering prepress press post press workflows, RIP/Ghostscript integrations, PDF handling, and licensing (RSA-based activation).
• Log, triage, and track defects through to closure using the bug tracker; verify fixes before sign-off.
• Validate builds on target environments (Windows versions, printer drivers, RIP software) prior to MSI packaging/release.
• Provide UAT support and sign off on release candidates in coordination with the development team.

2. Customer Demos & Onboarding

• Deliver live and remote product demonstrations to prospective and existing customers, tailoring the walkthrough to their press/finishing setup.
• Support the sales process with technical Q&A, proof-of-concept setups, and trial installations.
• Onboard new customers: installation, configuration, license activation, and initial training on the software.

3. Field Escalation & Customer Support

• Serve as first responder for escalations from the field (print shops, trade customers) diagnosing issues remotely or on-site.
• Reproduce reported issues, distinguish user error from genuine defects, and route confirmed bugs to engineering with clear repro steps and logs.
• Maintain a working knowledge base of common issues, fixes, and workarounds for faster resolution.
• Track escalation SLAs and keep customers informed through resolution.

4. Road Shows & Industry Events

• Represent the company at print industry trade shows and road shows setting up demo stations, running live product showcases, and engaging booth visitors.
• Gather competitive intelligence and customer feedback from the field to relay back to product/dev teams.

5. Travel

• Occasional domestic (and potential regional) travel required for on-site customer support, installations, and trade show participation estimated 100% of time.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Printing Technology, Graphic Arts, Computer Science, or a related field (print technology background strongly preferred).
• 25 years of experience in a print production, prepress, or print software environment QA, technical support, or application specialist roles.
• Working knowledge of the print production workflow: imposition, color management (ICC profiles), RIPs, PDF/PostScript, and finishing/post press processes.
• Comfortable with Windows environments; basic understanding of software installation, licensing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills able to explain technical issues to non-technical press operators and translate field feedback into structured bug reports for developers.
• Confident presenter, comfortable demoing live software to customers and at trade show booths.
• Self-motivated, willing to travel, and calm under pressure when handling live escalations.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with print MIS, imposition software, or color management systems.
• Familiarity with SQL/basic scripting for log analysis or data checks.
• Experience with remote support tools (TeamViewer, Anydesk) for field troubleshooting.
