Job summary

Dog Home Foundation in Rajasthan, India seeks a dedicated Animal Caretaker to provide daily care and support for the animals at our shelter. You will feed, water, groom, clean kennels, and help with medical care under the guidance of veterinarians, ensuring a safe and clean environment.

The role requires genuine compassion, patience, physical fitness, and the ability to handle dogs, cats, and other rescued animals with kindness and respect.

Qualifications

• Genuine love and compassion for animals.
• Comfortable working with dogs, cats, and other animals of different sizes.
• Physically fit to handle animals and shelter duties.
• Willing to work around injured, sick, disabled and rescued animals.
• Responsible, punctual, disciplined, and hardworking.
• Ability to follow instructions from veterinarians and shelter supervisors.
• Previous experience in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, pet care centre, dairy, gaushala, or animal-related work is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Willing to learn proper animal-care techniques.

Responsibilities

• Take care of dogs, cats, and other rescued animals staying at the shelter.
• Provide animals with food and fresh drinking water according to their daily schedule.
• Clean kennels, cages, animal resting areas, feeding bowls, and shelter surroundings regularly.
• Maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness to prevent infections and diseases.
• Assist in bathing, grooming, and general hygiene of animals whenever required.
• Observe animals daily and inform veterinary or shelter team if an animal appears sick, injured, weak, aggressive, or uncomfortable.
• Assist veterinarians and medical staff during treatment, dressing, medication, vaccination, and other procedures when required.
• Help safely handle and shift animals within the shelter.
• Provide special care to injured, disabled, paralyzed, elderly, or recovering animals.
• Ensure animals receive medicines and food according to instructions provided by the veterinary team.
• Help new rescued animals settle safely into the shelter.
• Maintain cleanliness of bedding, blankets, feeding areas, and other animal-care equipment.
• Support the rescue team whenever assistance is required for handling animals.
• Treat every animal with kindness, patience, compassion, and respect.
• Follow all shelter safety, hygiene, and animal-handling procedures.
• Report any emergency, injury, unusual behaviour, or animal welfare concern immediately to the supervisor.

Our shelter provides care to dogs, cats, and various other rescued animals that require medical attention, food, safety, and compassion.
