Cessna Lifeline in Bengaluru seeks a compassionate veterinary support assistant to help veterinarians and senior nurses with daily patient care, feeding, grooming and monitoring of hospitalized pets.

The role covers handling animals, maintaining ward hygiene, preparing supplies, and assisting in procedures such as MRI transport when needed, following SOPs and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Confidently handle and restrain animals as per the ‘fear free clinic’ concept
  • Provide enrichment, affection and essential care to the pets wherever needed
  • Provide nursing care and comfort to hospitalised patients including health checking, feeding, grooming and walking animals
  • Monitor the activities of pet, gait, water intake, urination & defaecation
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of the admitted pets
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the cage, the ward & the areas
  • Follow the instructions and guidance given by the vet/ senior nurse
  • Assist the Veterinary nurse when they are giving medications
  • Provide fresh food and clean water for patients within the guidelines of the treatment plan set by the veterinarian
  • Segregating & maintaining the laundry load as per the SOP set for the area
  • Organising the H.K staff for the general cleaning and deep cleaning of the wards as per the SOP
  • Cleaning bedding, such as blankets and mats, as per the SOP set for the items
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, such as bowls and toys, with a pet-safe sanitizer
  • Emptying trash bins as per the biomedical waste segregation protocol
  • Wiping down walls and other surfaces of cages with a pet-safe cleaner
  • Replenishing supplies, such as water and food bowls, toys, and bedding
  • Maintaining & cleaning the tables, machines, equipment, locker, stock and counters/benchtops etc.
  • Knowledge in basic grooming procedures such as bathing, zero trimming, ear cleaning, hygien e trimming, nail cutting, emptying anal sac, ear plucking etc.
  • Must be able to observe abnormal behaviours and physical problems in the patients
  • Assist in emergency situations; assist clients to/from their cars if needed
  • Accompany the patient when it is taken for MRI procedure outside the hospital
  • Label and properly store the food, toys or other belongings staying with the admitted pet
