Job summary

Radhakrishna Cold Storage in Satara, Maharashtra, is seeking an experienced technician to operate ammonia refrigeration systems and monitor critical process parameters. You will manage defrost cycles, perform routine maintenance, and uphold strict safety standards to preserve the integrity of the cold chain.

The role requires 2+ years in ammonia-based facilities and an ITI or Diploma in Mechanical disciplines, with preference for local candidates.

Qualifications

• ITI in RAC/Mechanical/Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years ammonia-based cold storage experience.
• Satara residents preferred; relocation support available.

Responsibilities

• Operate ammonia refrigeration machinery incl. compressors and condensers.
• Maintain hourly logs of suction/discharge pressure, oil pressure, chamber temperatures, and power readings.
• Perform regular defrosting, oil checks, and valve/filter maintenance.
• Conduct daily ammonia safety inspections and use PPE and safety equipment.
• Troubleshoot compressor trips and high-pressure cutouts to prevent cold-chain loss.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Operations: Operate ammonia refrigeration machinery including screw/reciprocating compressors, evaporative condensers, liquid receivers, and air cooling units (ACUs/AHUs).
• Temperature & Pressure Monitoring: Maintain hourly logbooks of suction/discharge pressure, oil pressure, chamber temperatures, and power readings.
• Maintenance & Defrosting: Execute regular hot-gas/water defrosting schedules, oil draining/top-ups, and valve/filter checks.
• Safety & Emergency Readiness: Conduct daily leak inspections using sulphur sticks/detectors, adhere strictly to ammonia handling protocols, and maintain safety equipment (breathing apparatus, PPE).
• Fault Rectification: Handle immediate troubleshooting of compressor tripping, high-pressure cutouts, or cooling deviations to prevent cold-chain loss.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: ITI in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC) / Mechanical / Fitter, OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in ammonia‑based cold storage, dairy, or ice plants.
• Location Preference: Candidates residing in Satara or nearby areas are strongly preferred.
• Relocation: Candidates willing to relocate to Satara are welcome; on‑site lodging is available.
